Nope, lousy day. We drove all up 120 kilometres in our distances.
Utterly disappointed. First place, we get there we were greeted with caught and thrown on the lake bank 15 dead fish rotting. It was obvious as a fisherman they had been there well over a week. This was a fishing picknick area right next to a camp park which is under control of the park. I used to know well as a friend who owned it previously. Jimmy. I cant stomach the new owners of Laanacoorie van park. Jimmy was golden and also a gold prospector. The new ones are pigs.
We spent half an hour cleaning up the dead fish and other rubbish there.
There was also pea soup green toxic algae there, with zero warning on the signs which Jimmi used to put up. The new owners are rubbish people.
We then went another good drive to another great awesome fishing spot, 50 minutes drive from there. We were again greeted with toxic algae like green soup, again no signs. This algae has been proven to cause huge health issues including motor neurone diseases. Zero warning at each.
I will not be fishing at either for several months unless we get flood flush outs of those reservoirs. Was a very dissapointing day.
We both wished we had taken our Yabbie (crawfish nets) with us. That looks like what we will be doing over the next several months. We were both really disappointed not to fish as this time of yr is typically great for redfin and yellowbelly here. Very dissapointing day to say the least.
Our fisheries here used to be good with warnings etc, they are now utterly useless. Our total system here, not just this, but many other public things have totally collapsed. Sad state of affairs, the OZ I knew is gone.
