Several friends and myself at one time hand loaded extensively.Smokeless powder can go bad and should not be used to load with when it does.Together we had accumulated around 10 lbs. of various powders and rather than just dispose of it we decided to make good use of it. Took a piece of 6 inch black iron pipe and capped one end and welded a nozzle on the other.Even added some fins for stability.Loaded er up with the smokeless and that night with the aid of a length of cannon fuse lit that sucker up.It made a spectacular take off and was last seen on a Northerly heading spewing fire and flame.Don,t know where it finally came to earth but if any of you detect up a strange iron object that looks uncannily like a rocket, well. As for my post this is what happens when you get bored in the country and have a little brother that was in university as a science major lol

We used to do crazy things like that till somebody got hurt.As for my post this is what happens when you get bored in the country and have a little brother that was in university as a science major lol
I've already got hurt messing with a 5 gallon jug making it into a mini rocket with methanol and ethanol. Instant fried my hand was highly unpleasant. Took a mouth to get feeling back in parts of my hand. Lesson learnedWe used to do crazy things like that till somebody got hurt.
That was me, now I am kind of gun shy with the homemade stuff.
Sorry you got hurt, but beer usually prevents that.Or deadens the pain anyhow. We used to do crazy things like that till somebody got hurt.

At 18 I blew off 60% of the right hand. They pieced it back together using the right index from the wrist forward for parts. Still can feel it, knumb throbbed, tingling in the nerves, kind of like I got 3 of them.I've already got hurt messing with a 5 gallon jug making it into a mini rocket with methanol and ethanol. Oh man that's terrible. I just flash cooked some of my hand. Wasn't too bad but didn't feel good for awhile. At 18 I blew off 60% of the right hand. Move the thumb/index and I feel the index. 15 operations in total and a whole lot of hurt.
