10 miles north..(I'm right on the Cali border, 1/4 mile from the beach..) Is Mack arch . You can not see it from highway 101, boat view only. Short informative article.

We switched to crushed oyster shells a few years back, from the salts.
It's way better for Max's feet, doesn't burn the paws.
Put onto the steps when wet, and it freezes in place for a real course surface.
With the freeze/thaw cycles of the past years it works. 20 kg bag from the farm store lasts around 2 winters depending on the ice build up.
The winter ends and the birds take it for the extra calcium in the spring/summer.
Mind you there is little white graduals on the walkway, but if one has cement it's easily swept up, and reused.
Kind of an environmentally friendly product.

This is a great idea Jim, the amount of salt we pour into our ground water each winter is definitely unsettling. I assume I could find crushed oyster shells at TSC or the farm Co-op in Orono. I do need to buy more salt this week, so I may just have to look into this environmentally friendly option.

What a great looking rock outcropping OV. It's funny, because when I think of the State of Oregon, I always think or Washington State, which is just south of Vancouver where I lived for a short time.

My Goodwill find, Whites Prizm IV... Made in Sweet Home Oregon I thank you very much..:laughing7:
The control box had isuues. One screw holding it on. That one gave up. I could glue the control box to the rod....but there is not much area for something that will get bumped, batteries changed etc. Imagine half of the rod is going to be glued to the same small area on the control box!

So it was velcro time. Or..."hook and loop"

I swear by my black duct tape, I'm certain it would be more effective then your Velcro strap. That is, unless you need to remove the strap to replace the batteries. :laughing7:

That cat, your avatar... wife and I have a bet. I say..yawning. Wife says...pissed off...watch out!
So....
Never scratched, nor bit, pretty mellow 9 yr old girl. That was the photo was taken after she woke up from one of her last sleeps. Loves to just hang over things, as this shot before the yawn.
