Thats a very serious man in the middle.

Bart,

Those are 3 pirates if I've ever seen any....lol.

Yes the used worm with a hook in it dies but so do the other 3 dozen in the fridge you left at home. It also gives them some sort of “shock” fish don’t eat them as good. There damaged and a fish can tell. I’m not try to argue it just my experience of doing it.
Edit
Horses can’t take electricity. I’ve seen them dead from an underground short at a wellhouse and storage tank.

I don't argue anymore. I just say my thoughts and move on.

First, I wouldn't have 3 dozen home in my fridge. I'd have a tin can of the bait I was going to use....with me in the boat. The other "3 dozen" would still be nestled in their "homes" until needed.
Second, I have inside information on what fish eat. Fishy tells me that there is only one word that comes to a fish's mind when it sees a fat nightcrawler wriggling in the water. And that word is....

YUM!!!!

MMMMMMmmm.webp

I have *never* had a problem catching a fish on a worm no matter how obtained.

Whether the vibration in the ground came from electricity, fiddling, or hammer and anvil chorus....its still a shock to the worm's system. Severe enough to cause fight or flight syndrome. And since they can't fight...they "fly". Right up to the surface! That fright causes chemical reactions in the worm and that might put off a fish's sense of smell. ;)

I would suspect that the freon in a refrigerator *might* be more detrimental to what a fish might find palatable. In that lightning quick moment before a fish's instinct to ravage some poor worm takes over! :tongue3:

When I use to buy or sell crawlers it was by the flat. 480-500 per box. There about $85 each. When dealing in that number longer term storage is needed. Try the experiment to see for yourself. I have.

Not likely. A dozen in my tin can, a dozen fish. No need to store/experiment. My experience suffices.
Besides, what is the experiment?
To vibrate worms out? Then put different methods of getting them on different hooks to see which gourmet delights? :tongue3:
