Under the spanish palmetto ? Old conch just told me a secret. And that secret is to look for what he calls the spanish palmetto tree. The cuban/spanish fishermen and merchants planted the water sources, salvage camps, and farm plots. It still carries on in those areas and I've been told to go for them straight away when I see them. The old conch is a bit squirrely but he's damn right about this one.....first place I saw it was marqueasa key...north west portion of the island. That is where the salvage camps were for the atocha, and Santa margarita !! Taffi fisher was given a big fine for digging the mangroves and other vegetation at these salvage camps. She gladly paid that fine and stopped digging.....I wonder how much great treasure they dug off the island...enough to easily pay the fine im sure !! Have seen the same palms on the content keys....I've herd spanish coins have been found there too !! I know one thing....ill be researching this now, and keeping my eyes open out there. So much to explore in the keys...its crazy....just tracking down the stories is a task !!

Morning Bart
One has to wonder about the squirreled old conchs out in the world.
Back in the late 70's I use to chat with this old bearded sailor guy that live down by the harbour.
Fascinating bloke that spun the yarns, but knew the history as well.
Put me on a few good sites of former history.
Well I hadn't seen him, and was wondering if he met his end (as he lived by his wits out and about)
So I made some inquiries and heard he was in the hospital psych. ward. Well I paid him a visit and it seemed that it wasn't the first visit.
He would smash a few store front windows out on main street, act loony, lock him up for the winter.
He chuckled and said: "It was a warm bed for the winter"
So I figured he wasn't all that loony just sly as a fox. :laughing7:

Pretty wierd to get up in the morning and watch the fishing shows, and see all my friends with T.V. shows !! I told George from "the fish guyz" he better feature me one day. In to the blue roger always comes to hang out when were in key west.

Sounds like were gonna rent a house in key west this summer so we can free dive, spear fish, and treasure hunt !!

So a few months ago there was a story of gold coins being found down south by the little palm resort. There was a flurry of activity for about a month tracking down leads and people involved.....what we have is the 1 story in ten that actually pans out. Turns out years before the robinsons had recovered an anchor close by. Well all the info plus the 11 foot anchor got us motivated to have the state of Florida modify our contracted lease box. All the paper work has cleared and they have been dragging the magnetometer in the area. Pointing from anchor to shore line has led to a major big gamma cluster reading on the mag. We have a wreck that is the most likely source for the gold coins. Bringing in the big boat....85 ft.....and all the boats have been upgraded with new hookah systems !! I feel like a big shot since this discovery is almost all me except for the mag data !! I belive she spanish, and will date either in the 1680s or early 1700s. One of the islands close by has given up an intact and beautiful olive jar. I will be exploring the coastline where this olive jar came from and some areas where gold coins have been found in the past. Drawing up a hand done treasure finds map.....starting to narrow down my search from a couple miles....down to about a half mile stretch of shoreline where finds have been clustered. We are really heating up down here....just some incredible opportunities have landed on my plate....trying to concentrate on my best options for success. Got islamoradamark scouting in the boat yesterday.....its time to dive and im excited to get in on some good leads !!

Well Bart, it sounds like you're living life to the fullest. I hope you have mega success on this awesome adventure! I can't wait to be tugged along if you have time to share it!

Your governor and our governor are the two best in the country.

Mornin all.

Dang Bart.....You're on it!
I'm facing a crawl under the counter kitchen sink replacement today.
Which begs the question : Is one ever too old to run away from home?

Head for the keys. Scrounge about till winter , break a couple windows....

Jim,

Well we're allowed out for exercise so would imagine it should be ok...just have to keep my distance.

It's been wet and cold, however, I'll try to make my first outing in the coming week.

Morning Bill and Bart
Bill have you fired up the detector yet this spring-or is the lock down restricting the activities?

On the menu tonight ham tettrazini our version is a bit different than this one but it's pretty flexible.

Shes a good cook Bill.

I should have run away.
I should have runaway.
I should have run away.

Crazy glue bonds skin quickly.
Crazy glue.....

Plumbing fittings and connections have a myriad of sizes and sizing.
Described in some foreign language even when in English , which , befits the bizarre options.
Previous plumbed equipment/fixture do not match new fitting sizes.
New fitting sizes do not fit prior fittings.

Buying multiple lengths of supply lines with the same (though different sized on each end) fitting sizes does not address multiple fitting types.
And most importantly , I learned why the supply lines I had in my hot little had yesterday had smaller fittings on one end than those I bought.
1/2"C X 1/2" FIP does not fit as 3/8 " Compression fittings.

What else did I learn....
Construction adhesive (?) is not caulk.
And when prying sink loose, even after running a knife under reachable edges , previously used strong adhesive will tear veneer on countertop. (note crazy glue.)

And , I learned I'm still not a plumber....

Even years after I find it almost unbelievable that in my lifetime I witnessed 2 separate major tsunami !! To think that 100s of thousands of people were killed in minutes is a staggering thing....my brain still cannot wrap itself around the reality of this !! Yet my mind says that mother nature can be much worse if she wants !!

Nite.......sigh.....

Morning TreasureNet Scallywag Crew.
