Looks like I'll be captain of the 112 foot motor yacht "sea hawk". I assume command today. Hope to have a new captain on Tuesday. In the meantime I'm stuck on board through the holiday. Gonna bring my boy up to stay on board this weekend. Amazing how big a pain in my arse this big boat has become !! I can't believe that no one wants to stay at the job.....its a 120000$ a year job !! 13 years with the same captain and now I've had 4 this year. What a headache !!

With Covid lockdowns, there is quite a bit of activity in the yacht charter business...I can imagine that there is a shortage of qualified people, and a shortage of people you can trust.
Was looking up Sea Hawk, but didnt find it in the usual places, only a 85' motor and a 192' sail with that name.

I guessing my 6 pack wont qualify!

Cheers!

Good morning fellas. Tomorrow I'm leaving for Pennsylvania on a one day detecting trip. It should be interesting to say the least.

Get up early-come home late-best of luck on the day of dirt digging RR.

A non-April the oneth thought.

True friends are a treasure! But I've always held to a school of thought. That, the only true allie one really has is family. Before you start the stoning, consider this.

If push comes to shove, and one turns to a friend for help. Only, that friend, who has a life of their own. Has a problem of their own and it comes down to them having to choose between helping their friend *OR* their own family. Guess who they're likely going to choose.

Just IMLLTHO of course.

In this world of "until death us do part ....or.....one of us gets bored, whichever comes first. "

Better make as many "friends" as you can!

Okay...so now, that I've won a million dollars in the lottery. Which new metal detector should I buy? :icon_scratch:

I took my son out car shopping today. Where? Dayton! He knows I hate Dayton! He said, “We will be fine. They’re all at car lots.” So we stopped at a couple but not the one he wanted to see. We end up in north Dayton and I pointed out a what used to be a restaurant that my mom and dad used to take me and my grandma to. Found the car lot. No deal. So we back track to another lot. He’s got his face in the phone trying to put in the address. Got it . “Your destination is on the left.” Crap! Too late to turn. There is a dump of a hotel next, in which he remarked, “That just screams crack head hotel.” The next place to turn around was a vacant bar. I informed him that his grandfather used to play music there. So we get turned around and pull into the car lot. It’s fenced in and I am right alongside the hotel. He got out and goes to see the vehicle. I’m getting an uneasy feeling sitting there. Finally he comes back and as he does this guy in a really nice truck is picking up this chick that is obviously on something. She’s whacked out dancing, trying to get one more hit off her cigarette and put it out and twirling like a drunk ballerina. At this point I say the really bad word, “ Get me the **** out of here.” He’s like,”Why?” I point and this girl and she is crazy dancing in the front seat. Obvious a John or her pimp picked her up. Then there comes a raggedy mini van behind them. My son says that’s probably a detective. I’m frantically trying to get turned around to get out. The truck pulls out, the mini van pulls out and then try’s pulling right back in on the other side. Darn near gets in a head on crash. I get turned around and am waiting on traffic when the van comes back around the hotel. My son says, “Whoops. Looks like he’s not a detective. He’s picked him up one, too.” She looked like she was passed out already.

Broke my heart, scared me and ticked me off, all at the same time. Dayton sucks!

"A friend will help you move your house, a true friend will help you move a body"

:dontknow:

Two friends went hunting.
One happened to sit down, right on a snake! Of course, he was bitten. The other one ran for help. He came upon Ole Doc Potter's house. The doctor told the friend how to make a crosscut over the bites and suck out the poison. Then he said he'd grab his bag and be along in a few minutes.

The friend reached his injured buddy who pleaded, "What did the doctor say!?!?!?"

The friend looked at the bites and said, "I'm sorry old pal, but the doc said you gunna die!!"

In the process of buying a couple of old coins. 1 is a counter stamped NB token 1843 and the other is a 1791 or 1792 French 12 denier love token.

Gotta love those oddball coins.

Liking them Bill, set price or auction?

Interesting coins! But, that's what I got into this hobby for, to dig up some very oddball coins! :tongue3:

Jim,

These are set prices, however, being somewhat unique not the sort of items that come up for auction unless it's more of a high end auction house.

The guy selling these is based in Canada and also does lotting for Heritage Auctions based in the U.S. so he knows his stuff.

WIF,

Well I've found some old coins and tokens in my 25 plus years of detecting. So far no counter stamped coins or love tokens yet.

That 12 Deniers is awesome! I've got a boring old normal one somewhere around here but it's not quite as special haha.

Noah,

Yeah I tend to go after the oddball coins these days when buying. I picked up a medieval silver coin from Poland many years ago at auction.

The clincher that made me buy it was his nickname was "Leo the Hogmouth"...:laughing7::laughing7::laughing7:

Similar to this one.
