An outrageous portion of corned beef , red potatoes,cabbage,carrots. Each kept separate to serving vs being cooked ensemble. Very nice. Very nice.
Coffee , and A bottle of Killian's draught.
Belly swellage...!

Another long way home ride through the countryside still trying to shake off winters slumber. Just a slight hint of green here and there.
If not for the dogs bedtime being midnight or after , I'd be headed for slumber. L.o.l..

The Road Not Taken
BY ROBERT FROST

[Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.]

The Men That Don't Fit In
BY ROBERT W. SERVICE

[There's a race of men that don't fit in,
A race that can't stay still;
So they break the hearts of kith and kin,
And they roam the world at will.
They range the field and they rove the flood,
And they climb the mountain's crest;
Theirs is the curse of the gypsy blood,
And they don't know how to rest.

If they just went straight they might go far;
They are strong and brave and true;
But they're always tired of the things that are,
And they want the strange and new.
They say: "Could I find my proper groove,
What a deep mark I would make!"
So they chop and change, and each fresh move
Is only a fresh mistake.

And each forgets, as he strips and runs
With a brilliant, fitful pace,
It's the steady, quiet, plodding ones
Who win in the lifelong race.
And each forgets that his youth has fled,
Forgets that his prime is past,
Till he stands one day, with a hope that's dead,
In the glare of the truth at last.

He has failed, he has failed; he has missed his chance;
He has just done things by half.
Life's been a jolly good joke on him,
And now is the time to laugh.
Ha, ha! He is one of the Legion Lost;
He was never meant to win;
He's a rolling stone, and it's bred in the bone;
He's a man who won't fit in.]

Great song, it was and still a tune when I hear it, I just want to take the long way home.
It has found me at times just driving away, coming back a year or more later. Dangerous ear worm.:laughing7:

And may ye be in heaven half an hour before the devil knows you're dead.

Nite folks!

Irish here faced racism and many would not deny thier heritage. Pre American revolution Protestants' were celebrating Irish heritage.
With Catholic Protestant conflict , green vs orange reflected/reflects conflict within the race. Early on ignored by the non Irish who discriminated equally among both distinctions.

It's a day to recognize the Irish. Our geographical gulfs and attendant observations vary to be sure.
But for all who have been marginalized as suitable only for having an "Irish necklace", that rime of sweat and dirt found on a laborer tasked with what others shun and therefore deemed suited to the work ... And thier kin ,It's a day aside to confirm origins.

I recall my birth certificate describing Dad's occupation as a laborer.
I tried to break that trend. And ended up a laborer regardless.
He was not Irish. But married into Irish and knew thier struggle. As he knew his own heritage's struggle here.

The "No Irish " signs are gone. At least are not in use today.
So it's more to celebrate. As most hard won changes are.

Ehhh. I agree that is what it has turned into, but it was not the intent , IMO. It was a day to recognize what a common man went around Ireland explaining using a common three-leafed clover. All now lost in the kerfunkle. Placement of said day of recognition being placed on the calendar in close proximity to a day of worldly celebration, spring solstice, yet another blundering attempt by men to spread news to the world, which the world does not wish to hear or know of. Same as Christmas was placed on the calendar near the winter solstice. Yet, it is totally understandable, considering the conflict between Irish Protestants and Catholics, how/why the Irish would come to celebrate their heritage once the “church “ recognized Ireland.
It is great to celebrate one’s heritage, I say. Embrace it. Relish it, cherish it. I wish we, the melting pot, would celebrate more of the different heritages of the world, than a select few. Just my take on it all.

Which 2 words?

Did they ever straighten out Dead Mans Curve???

Ohioan like this stuff?...(from a native PA)

You consider Cedar Point a vacation...

Your hometown river is flammable...

"Who Dey!"

In Ohio...you dont have the A B C's, you have the 3 C's... Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati

Cannot post cuss words in any language. Goes against the site rules. Besides, I don’t know how to spell them. Probably don’t pronounce them correctly, even. LOL! One is dumb something or other. The other is supposed to be some kind of a hole.

Huh. Dead mans curve. Those Daytonians are like squeaky wheels always get the grease. Yes, it is better. But, the real deadman’s curve in Ohio is in Cleveland and there is no way to straighten that one. Just do as the sign says. 15 mph. Noah can probably agree to that one.

Yes, CP used to be vacay, until they built Kings Island. Really wish we still had Geauga Lake and LeSourdsville Lake (LOL I sprained my arm jumping in a sponge pit at this one)They were smaller and more enjoyable.

River has floaters also. But I read somewhere that Michigan River did too. Explains why the catfish from Lake Erie smell like kah kah.

Da Bears

Watch out for the detours. They lead to places you will be caught dead. Although, the view on 75 coming north from Kentucky and into cincy is one of my favorites.

Native PA? I heard the earth was still burning there. Then I found out it burns in Ohio also. That’s some crazy stuff to learn about.

Pittsburgh is your city to avoid the detours.

Driving 70 in the fall is absolutely beautiful!

There was a town in SE PA that was named after a possible ancestor. No, I cannot give the name, just the story. He was exiled from Germany. He had something to do with getting the railroad to go through, or maybe he was in the right place at the right time. Became a town and took his name. Defunct now but a picturesque place. I have not made a connection yet. But his story fits the oral history of the family: German came over , married Dutch/Native American. I gave up tracking ancestry. Too many obstacles, misspellings and burned records.

Another sleeplessness type of night. Thanks to all for the reading/watching/ listening material to get me through. I think I better try sleep again. I have a funeral to attend. Don’t want to miss it.

so, good morning to all when you get aboard de ship.

Sir WIF, I will check your thread later.

Morning WD and pepper.

Well the storm has passed and we didn't have any big damage. It's headed toward RTR now. We did have some close calls. One tornado touched down just south of Tupelo doing some damage. Overall though the state had 5 or 6 purdy bad storms.

Morning again WD

Morning WD ARC, Rook

Good to hear that you had no damage with the storms. Tornados are on my top of the list of don't want weather related storms.
