That mill is becoming a big reality for you Bart.
I am still not ready for the mill, it would just another iron in an oversized fire burning already.

Good Morning, mateys!

Today throw open your blinds and windows,
Enjoy the beautiful light the sun shows,
Though you can’t always control who enters your life,
Have a good window to throw out those who give you strife.

lol... yeah that one... when the hurricane comes... you will at least still have stilts. ... maybe. heh

yeah that's an "el cheapo" btw.

The construction is STICKS... and susceptible to every bad thing Florida is notorious for.

IF you GAVE ME that house... I wouldn't do more than a walkthrough and then place For Sale sign in yard. heh

Morning WD and RTR

Bart,

Glad your wood business is picking up nice to see positive news these days. Well deserved I might add.

Also... you may be shocked at insuring that... and get ready for a LONGGGGGGGG process of that... FOR EACH thing you want to be insured for.

Insurance in Florida on that... hah... man o man...

You ARE gonna "pay to play"... heh

Since I've been involved in fermenting beer and wine and now pickles and sauerkraut. I've been toying with trying my hand at making sourdough bread.

Most of the instructions are to time consuming and fussy. I finally tracked down a straight forward version which I'll share.

Dang....I haven't shared any wood stuff in a long time. I put the wood on instagram and its been busy to say the least. Yesterday I had a guy walk up while i was milling some teak for a yacht repair. He walked up and dropped 1750$ in my hand and walked out with 3 great slabs of cuban mahogany. What a day !! I went back to my teak milling and the phone rings....its a well known live edge artist from instagram. BANG....an entire boule/milled log out the door for 3500$. He will be sending a sprinter van across country to get it and haul it back to Seattle !! Only first class rides for cuban mahogany !! My shop partner got to the shop and was blown away when I said I had a 5000$ day !! Woooo hoooo !! Most lucrative treasure i ever went after was the exotic hardwoods.....TREASURE !!

Good for you, Bart! That's a good day.

Woooo hoooo !!

Anyhow we have been keeping a close eye on the real-estate market in Fl. SOME areas like the keys have really exploded in price. And a LOT of areas inland in Fl. have not.No more than homes in my area.:occasion14:

It gets a bit tedious, but I can't imagine how long a deal like this would have taken without the smart phone !! Lots of photos and chalk lines to make sure it will all work !!

And there IS... repeat IS... a reason for that... whatever it may be... its up to you to figure out what that reason is.

Serious homework on anything... AND SERIOUS INSPECTIONS are not just recommended by me but you should make it mandatory.

Check crime in area... reports etc.

Don't look at one site either... look at as many as available.

And keep this in mind as you shop.

Florida is Scam capitol.

PEople even sell houses here that don't even belong to them... no joke... happens daily.

BUT ARE THEY BLOCK ? ? ?

This IS the biggest question.

People "who know" Florida... IOW.. real Floridians... heh... don't buy wood constructed homes.

These are the homes I am referring to... find a GOOD block home... ON solid.. FIRM ground...in an area that is "decent"... in an also decent neighborhood.

Don't get me wrong... there are "good deals" out there... but in Florida... you are going to get what you pay for.

This market has always been weird... but that's what you get when you have 25 million residents and 25 million more NON permanent residents crammed into one state. heh

Here...you want a 'Block' house ? $399,000 nice and secure:tongue3: >> https://www.missilebases.com/copy-of-atlas-f-centralk

In the keys you need poured concrete in one of a few neighborhoods that are high ground. Not to many options. I have the second best option.....block construction with metal roof, and 13 feet above sea level. Mount key largo !! Im a block and a half from the homeowners park with boat ramp !! But I knew what I wanted all along. I grew up in a sea level home that flooded many times !!

We actually have a hill in my neighborhood.

Millions of years ago it was a coral reef, and we may be headed back that way now !!??
