I remember back when I hunted the scent to wear was Skunk. When you get a room full of men with skunk on it is unbearable. My nose would burn. It took 2 days to get it showered off. It's amazing what we would do to to kill a deer. I have nothing against deer hunting. They have to be thinned. We were on the buck program sponsored by Mississippi State that helped us control the herd. It's funny looking back now. I never really cared for the meat personally. It was a fun sport when we ran dogs but as time went along the club members decided to stop that. Still hunting only. With my son starting college hunting just wasn't as much fun without him and I just wasn't as mad at deer anymore. I've got great memories of those days and the stories that could be told.

Well, tell them stories, rook. :hello2:

Most you couldn't tell here. We did have some interesting card games at night in the cabin. I will mention that the land owner was a great person and owned most of the 8500 acres we hunted. Weyerhaeuser owned the rest. But back to the card game. The owner liked cards too along with the adult beverages. Several times we had to put him to bed after the card game. He was one amusing guy. Passed now. Our club when I was in killed an average of 75 bucks a year coming from the hill of Mississippi some really nice bucks. I always hated it when Mississippi State told us we had to take 60 doe to keep the heard in balance.

Morning bart. Good luck with the dive.

I had to read this a couple times. lol. The first time all I caught was Weyerhaeuser. We used to buy wood from them. So my mind was side-tracked.

That's a lot of deer. The population must have been exploding then. :dontknow::icon_scratch:

I don't have to stretch my imagination too far about the owner. Been there done that. :laughing9:

Have a Blessed day everyone!

Yes. I didn't care for the antlers, so I focused on how big his body size was. I know the antlers are "decent" but I'd much rather have the venison, because we plum ran out. We'll let him go for a bit, then start tracking.
