Well ive learned that most tourists are not afraid of some cool water....I've also learned that most locals don't hunt in the winter down here. So there should be tourist gold building up with only a fraction of the hunters actually getting wet !!

Another plus this time of the year as you say is less competition because of the cold water as well as the cold water tends to shrink fingers and rings fall off so double bonus for you!

RTR, do you hunt or reload? I don’t have a 2506 but rem 700 and the light weight version 7 are good shooters. I’ve never had a problem with the trigger but I know there are upgrades to fix that problem. I have so many friends that reload I never really got into it.
I leave a 7 in .223 and a 20g beretta 390 scatter gun my vehicle. It is a different world here but sadly catching up or being dumbed down fast.

Semi retired an early (early eighties anyways) Walnut/blued BDL Mountain rifle in .270 when I acquired a 77/25-06 heavy barreled what I call varmint/target rifle.
It's 12 (?) pounds or better ,I forget the weight. Shoots like a laser though...Meaning , I do my job , it does its.
A friend gave me the model 77. I gave him a custom flintlock.

Another funeral today , Nephew's grandmother , think I'll just pop in for the visitation for he and his dads sake..
She died Christmas day.
As did my stepdad.

I’ll get in the water. In ice I wear wadders but soon after when I’m crossing channels I just take off shoes and wade across dry with a towel and slip on boot and away I go. I’ve found I can cover a lot more country. I don’t wear long pants unless they are Oshkosh b gosh,(overalls) Oshkosh is no longer brand. It’s the county seat here. It’s funny thing how badgers( Wisconsinites ) have some sort of connection with me when I tell them that, they’ve all heard of it. 12 miles away, closest place to get milk, if “Betty” isn’t fresh... I can make myself laugh all day long, It’s funny thing when you actually see in print? what a rube I am....lol I actually like it.

Yes hunt mostly deer and reload.That 700 is the most accurate rifle I've ever owned
