Glad to hear your chick is on the mend Jim, you're a good Dad to sleep in the hen house every night to keep her company.

I'm hoping to get out detecting at least one day this week. I'm taking our car in to get the winter tires put on today... winter is on the way.

Good morning ARC, Rook and Bill. :hello:

SAY WHAT!!
Now that's just plain anal-putting the winter tires on already-just SOOO-urban driving.
I wait until there's a foot of blowing snow-and then I can fill the air doing the :BangHead:

Morning Rebel... Bout time you showed up.

Good Monday morning, my pirates , Arc, antiquarian, Bart, Bill, Pepperj, rook.... ooh and a new pirate!
Good morning rebel! Careful where you step. There is a new puppy on board the ship.

Nicccce buddy :happysmiley: the difference here is that I have a wife who refuses to drive at the first sniff of snow in the air.

You know me, I look at winter driving in the city as an obstacle course... I try and hit all the puddles to splash every pedestrian I possibly can! :laughing7:

Picked a small batch of wild grapes the other day. From the online info appears they're what are called riverside or frost grapes and they've had a few mild frosts lately which is supposed to improve/sweeten them.

They're mostly seeds and skins so it takes a lot to make a big batch of juice. Also they have a high content of tataric acid which makes them bitter and possibly allergic for some people doubtful for pirates though....:laughing7::laughing7::laughing7:

The trick is to boil them for awhile then lightly mash them with a potato masher to extract the juice and strain. Then you leave them overnight and the tataric acid forms a slug on the bottom then just transfer to another container leaving the sludge behind problem solved.

We'll be boiling the juice with a 3/4 ratio sugar and a bit of lemon to makes some jelly. If we like the taste I'll pick a larger batch Wednesday when it warms up. I'm planning on making some balsamic type vinegar with it also.

The whole crop went to the turkeys this year.
Thanks for the recipe for doing them up.

Here's an easy pasta recipe to try. I'd change up the sauce for a traditional brown butter and sage dressing though.
