Yes that’s it. You think it was a necklace?

If it was usually the hole is at 12 o'clock instead of 11 as this hole is.
The sewing in coinage in the liner of clothing was more likely for silver when it was and earlier times.

It's a really good day getting a silver from a homestead site.
Unlike park hunting as I have had pretty good results.
In 2008 I took a 100+ silvers out of High Park and not one from the mowed lawn areas. It was a dear friend of mine while living in the Big Smoke.
Now it's counting the silvers on one hand.
A buddy that does service calls for a window/door company usually does 250-400 silvers a year out of the small town parks around Ontario.
He just stops detects for a bit every time he drives by one while doing the calls or in the evenings. He said it beats sitting on a bar stool dreaming of nothing, when you can be out doing something.

I used to have a job like that not too long ago Jim. :laughing7:
Unfortunately, I rarely had enough time to stop and detect the local parks.

I don't think so Rook. :icon_scratch:
As Jim already mentioned, if this was a to be worn as an 'mourning' tribute to Queen Victoria's passing in 1901, then hole would have been centered above her head.

I find a lot of 'holed' coins here in Ontario.
It was a habit in the UK to often 'hole' coins, to then run a string through them to keep them from getting lost.
Pockets in pants had still not become a standard part of our clothing in the 19thc.

There was also an old tradition, to hole a coin and nail it to the door frame entrance to a home.
This was done a a gesture of 'good luck' to all those who entered.
Because of the late-date, I'm thinking that's what this might be... a 'Good Luck' coin.

I'm off everyone. :hello:

Driving our daughter to school, then this afternoon I'm investigating another new site.
It's the one in the top right corner on the J. Hart Jr. property.

Hope you all have a good Wednesday.

Pardon me bill....good morning sir !!

Best of luck on your investigation Dave-I'm just throwing this out there-but I'd be detecting it-just saying.:laughing7:

Here's to a few keepers buddy! :occasion14:

< snip! >

I asked if I could rent it-heck I sent him another text saying I'd gladly rent him also.
Wedging chisels in with a sledge hammer for 4 hrs isn't fun. Getting too darn old for this type of abuse.

I hear ya, Pep ole boy! I got reminded of that very fact just recently. I decided to do a simple change of the air filter on my car. Simplest thing, right?

Wrong! The filter is easy but getting inside the compartment? My ever-lovin' gosh!!! It came down to a very sturdy baffle between the engine intake and the filter's compartment that had to be gotten out of the way first.

I pushed, pulled, yanked, cussed....wouldn't move! Even after loosening all connections that could be loosened!

Now, in my younger days, I would just muscle up and allow anger to "Hulk" this thing out of the way. I was angry enough but when I pulled the thing out, I felt a pain where one doesn't want to ever feel one.

I finished up, changed the filter, buttoned it up. But, that night? I laid with a cold compress and visions of a truss, surgery, etc for the rest of my life. (Turned out to be a just a strain).

No.....my "Incredible Hulk" days are forever off the table! :tongue3:

I just hope my memory lasts long enough for me to remember that lesson before any future filter changes! :BangHead:

Mornin all!
It's a frosty one here.
Blue sky.
Some bright sunshine getting through the trees.
Beautiful fall day.

I went out in the dark to pull snow shovels out of the shed when it was spitting sleet the other night.
The effort was enough to ward of the snow (temporarily) that piled up farther North.

Good morning, releventchair. Keep warding the white stuff to the north. Don’t want any down here, either.

I finally decided to clean the dust off my tower for my desktop computer....no wonder I get sneezing fits using the computer in the evenings must be all the dust the computer fan is blowing my way....heck the fan outlet looked like it was in a dust blizzard....:laughing7::laughing7::laughing7: maybe I should hire Dave with his feather duster to give it a thorough cleaning.....:laughing7::laughing7::laughing7:
