Good morning Jim.
Thanks for your good wishes regarding my interview yesterday.
......... < snip!>....but I have a feeling the position is more of a 'junior position' offering 'junior pay'. :laughing7:

Reminds me of one annual review I received. I was told that they knew I wasn't being paid as much as others in my area of expertise. But they weren't going to do anything about it, ( the old time for you to leave syndrome) :)

Anyway, I stayed for a while and was eventually pulled in for another meeting after a couple weeks. They asked why my work had slacked off. Late, incompletes, errors, etc...

I asked them, "What do you expect?! From a rookie!?" :angel12:

They informed me I was no rookie! I had the most experience in the company!

I said, "Can't prove it.....by my paycheck!"

Push to shove and finally, after another month or so....they informed me I was no longer needed.

I said, "Good! My advisor told me he had the forms ready to file."

"File for what!?!?"

"My age discrimination suit."

A week later I was offered a buy out. I took part of that and bought my AT. Then, retired from the rat race and went for a "walk".

Barump bump!
:angel12:

Morning WHADIFIND

mornig whadi....morning rook !!

Good morning wif and well played on getting the buyout. I did something similar and offered myself up for a buyout.

When they asked if I was happy in the service my response was it's like running a marathon every day. I know you want my job in Calgary and I'll be taking my pension in 3 years anyway.

Not worth the expense to the company and the hassle of me moving, selling and buying a new home, etc....also you can save one of my younger team mates from University on the next round of cutbacks.

Poof and here I am.

,,,,, ... ,,,,,

Good evening everyone! Yes, I survived my procedure. You still have to put up with me. :laughing9:

Well I had my lung specialist appt yesterday by phone, I was hoping I was going to be asked to breath hard into the receiver-but it didn't happen.

I was kind of good to hear his voice again as I was booted downstairs to the infectious disease clinic (3yrs ago) as they thought I had MAI/MAC something along that line.

4 cat scans, numerous X-rays, more sputum tests than I can count as this thing is almost impossible to grow in a lab.

The frightening part was the three medications they wanted to give me at a $90K bill a year. The side effects were the liver/kidney/loosing the ability to see colour.
Some really scary stuff-and I'm so glad I don't have to go down the road.

So he said after COVID I'll have a cat scan, lung function test, a standing order at the pharmacy if the need comes up and I need some strong antibiotics.
(He warned me that I was on the top of the ladder for a bad ride if I get the virus-so isolate as much as possible)

So life is good back on track-no worries about something that will either kill me or bankrupt me.
So we went for a 505km/303mi. drive today, saw the fall colours, got pizza, cheesecakes, croissants, meat, cheese. Just a great day.

Jim,

Well glad you can ride with the punches....like you I'm being cautious but let's face it we all have to live a little so no need to get paranoid.

Whoever coined the phrase, “Getting old ain’t for sissies,” knew what they were talking about.
