Sgt. Schultz wore a Double Decal M35 helmet. The M35's had a separately applied air vent, and a rolled rim. His helmet has both the Luftwaffe eagle, and the Tri-color national decal. After 1940, the M40 helmet was introduced, as well as new regulations for the national colors to be removed from the helmets, and have the eagles or SS runes only. Many soldiers disobeyed the order though, but by 1944 (when Hogans heroes is set) DD M35's were a rarity.


Often times the DD M35's were completely camouflaged with field applied paint, or had the decals scratched off.

In this famous photo from Stalingrad, 1942, the man in the photo, Helmut Wilhelm Schnatz, still has his DD M35. Moments later, Schnatz had his head blown to bits by a Russian sniper.

Coughing and clearing her throat...) uh uh um. WHADI, that’s some chivalrous talk , but you can stand down. Bill is just keeping me in battle ready condition for attacks from landlubbers and bilge rats. Blimey, I could have used your sword by me side on the old ship. But Me thinks he would tell ye, I can takes it an dishes it out too.




pssst. Cap’n, me thinks you took prisoner a Royal Navy and pressed him into service on dis RCT ship.

I've been looking for any ex crew members from the boat who might be vindictive and try to damage our boat !! Had a little shake up at work rook. You wouldn't believe the crazy drama on these yachts. I got lucky and fished today. We caught good today....27 mahi and 1 wahoo.
