Hey! that 101 thingy, sure it's just a cow tag? I'm sure others at the hunt know more about that number than I do, but it would be cool to hear some follow up on it...Are y'all enjoying the change in weather? :hello2: Looks like you got some rain last night.....?

Not sure at all.The hole is shaped wroung for a cow tag,I think. It looks more like a top for a fob to me but anyway Gunsmoke is pursuing it.That 101 ranch was 110,000 acre spread and the railhead was in Caldwell.Bill Picket is buried there and they even had a wild west show that went world wide.

The coin or token, and number tag are from the first site and the toy gun grip is from the islands. It looks like there maybe an eagle on the brass token but it's hard to tell since it is worn. I used soapy water and a nylon bristle brush to clean with but I don't want to damage it.

Great finds! Believe it or not, I dug up the other side of the cap gun handle...got it on the second to last median....in the group of trees...right after I dug a 1900 Indian...will post pics later this week..

Totally understandable, and whoever puts on the next one, Erika and I will be there! Wouldn't miss it for anything! Would for sure drive the extra way to see everyone, and to do a bit of hunting!

Baggins, I would drive back just to see the smiles you put on Erika's face. You're one lucky man! Be Blessed!

Thanks Bill, I think so as well!

I just wanted to say that I had the best time on this hunt! What a great group of people and so very nice to a newbie like myself.
I want to thank Warsaw for the gift - you are the greatest!
This was the first time I met Burdie and I just want to say, I am so glad there will be another hunt because you are the sweetest, most unbelievable host. Thank you for meeting Sean and me @ 10 PM every night just so we could take a shower!
It was great seeing Steve again! He always makes me laugh.
And Bob...sorry Sean and I kept you up all night laughing! HAHA!

Re: The CTH4 hunt will be held September 3,4 & 5th in Caldwell.

Here I am back in Missouri, just resting and trying to catch up on some missed naps.....lol. Another great hunt Mr. & Mrs. Burdett........you all always make it hard to leave. It was nice to see all the friends from past hunts and nice to make new friends. Thank you Gypsy for finding the creek area dig......if not for you I wouldn't have a new to me........old.......chinese cash coin of which I still need to clean. Again, thank you everybody for another successful get together and good times had. I will also be looking forward to next year and can be put on the list now....if you would Stan. I have a feeling this hunt will be standing room only. Take care my friends.......Greg

Re: The CTH4 hunt will be held September 3,4 & 5th in Caldwell.

Well....since this happened at the hunt I decided to share a treasure story with all. In probably the first 10 minutes of hunting an area on friday. I had turned on my V3i to hunt with and found a couple of nice items. My V3i then went belly up and would no longer work......BUMMER TO SAY THE LEAST. I called sweethome this morning and told a nice lady what had happened....she asked if I would like to send it in for repairs and I replied of course. I was just unsure if there was a quick fix that I could perform over the phone. She then asked a co-worker to chat with me and I repeated the story to him.....his reply was"Sounds to me like you need a new detector". He then proceeded to tell me that Whites would send me a brand spanking new V3i with a return postage sticker in it to send the old detector back. No cost brand new detector......I am not bumming anymore......thank you Whites. A great product and great customer service pass the word. Oh ya.......thanks again to all for their hard work in putting together a flawless hunt with all the trimmings. Stan, Vicki, Judy, Evy, Larry......and everyone else.

Happy Trails,
Greg

This was my second year to attend and very much enjoyed it.
Much thanks are owed to Stan & family for their hospitality. THANK YOU.
To Mastereagle 22: Thank You for the Backpack. I wont forget your generosity.
To Roy2Bears: Thanks for the beer and good conversation at the motel.
Also...............
I didn't see where a pic of the Seated Quarter had been posted.
It was found by RJGMC at the first site. (hope I got the name right)
He let me see it and take a pic. Another great find from the hunt.
Can't wait for the next CTH and we'll do it all over again.

Re: The CTH4 hunt will be held September 3,4 & 5th in Caldwell.

Well shoot......it's over huh.....:( I came home on sunday afternoon and wish I could have stayed a bit longer. I had the best time seeing old and new friends digging some great stuff out there! Yes, I came again this year in hopes of digging somemore old stuff, but mostly to see friends I've missed from the past cth hunts. Stan....I'm sure I dont need to tell you that your a great guy for another fine hunt. It was great to see you again and you and I will definately have to hook up for more detecting.
Whether you headed north, south, east, or west, I hope you have or had a safe trip home. I never had to defend my cowchip throwing title, but that might be a good thing. There seemed to be plenty of people there this year that could have made for some stiff competition! You are all a bunch of great people and I wish we all lived in the same town. I look forward to seeing everyone again next year.

Re: The CTH4 hunt will be held September 3,4 & 5th in Caldwell.

Thank you all for the kind words but the people who come to the hunt is what makes this hunt so great. I must tell you I really felt like a sibling that had all my brothers and sisters move out of the house. It sucks!! I miss them all. Looks like if I have another hunt I can get them to come back hopefully. :laughing7:

So far most are back to their home safe. Bless you all.

Re: The CTH4 hunt will be held September 3,4 & 5th in Caldwell.

Tom and I made it back safe. Wow what fun but also sadness. I really enjoyed meeting up with all of you again.

Already told my wife we were doing it again next year and for her to be ready to make the trip. She said ok. I'll give it a few days to set in and ask again and let you all know.

I will post finds tomorrow after work. Chores to do books to read and five days of tickling to make up to Dylan will keep me busy for a while.

Just a side note about the item I found.Lance just received this email;
Dear Mr.Tindall,

Would you be any relation to Velda Tindall who worked on the 101 Ranch?
I've talked to our Sec.Joe Glaser and he thinks it hung on a trap from a saddle or on a harness from the ranch. We would love to have it in our 101 Museum.

I'll probably let them have it(maybe they have an interesting detecting spot no one has ever touched with detector,in exchange?)

Re: The CTH4 hunt will be held September 3,4 & 5th in Caldwell.

And talk about a good turn out.......its always good when you can affect the local community in a good way. Such as WSD and the 101 ranch, gonehunting returning the coins back to the property owner or gypsy and the owner of the property which just might be the location of the next CTH hunt what a nice guy and very much interested in metal detecting now.....I feel like our group has done there job.

Happy Trails,
Greg
