The CTH4 hunt will be held September 3,4 & 5th in Caldwell.

Re: The CTH4 hunt will be held September 3,4 & 5th in Caldwell.

Ok. Added another page the the slideshow for those that do not support FLASH. Just go to the link, then on the right side of the banner with my logo, click the link for the animated GIF show and hopefully, you can see it! Let me know if you can't. http://cth4.gunsmoke.me

Once I get home, I will put together a nicer slideshow, with more pics, and sound, and get that posted for download. We will be staying at the Motel 6, rm119 today, so if you want your pics included then come on by. Or you can PM me for an email addresss you can send them to.

WSD is headed to the casino soon, so he will be out of touch ... everyone wish him luck! (I do!!)

Next Years Chisholm Trail Hunt????

We all know how much work it is to put on one of these events and Burdie has put on 4 of them now. It is no secret that Burdie would like someone to step up and organize one of these so he can go to it and not have to worry about all the logistics of making sure everyone has a good time.

I have been toying with the idea of putting on the next one but I wanted to make sure people are still interested once I tell you my plans.

The previous Chisholm Trail Hunts have all been held in Caldwell, KS which is a small town and has limited tourist activities. My idea is to hold the next hunt at the end of the Chisholm Trail in Abilene, KS. I know a lot of the history for Abilene and have even made a few contacts with owners of property on the south side of the town where the cattle would be driven in to the stock yards. The same farmer also owns the county fairgrounds that were used in later part of the 1800's.

I know Abilene would be a bit further drive for a lot of people but I think with the history and the ties to the Chisholm trail it might make for a good hunt/weekend.

Let me know what you think and if enough people are interested and Burdie doesn't mind me running next years event I will start setting it up.

You can check out the Abilene, KS website for more information on this area at: http://www.abilenecityhall.com/

Here is some history on Abilene: http://www.kansascattletowns.org/abilene/abilene_history.html

Don

Please don't take my offer of a hunt in Abilene the wrong way. I was just thinking outloud after hearing rumors of this being the last CTH and how Burdie wished someone else would step up to plan the next one. I picked Abilene because it is only a 2 hour drive for me and I have friends that live there and I know the farmer who owns most of the land south of town. If Burdie or someone else wants to put the next CTH together thats fine with me, I just don't want what Burdie started to end.

Re: The CTH4 hunt will be held September 3,4 & 5th in Caldwell.

I would like to see someone else go out and hide the tokens next time so Stan can Hunt. I didn't get to hunt this time due to my health, but I sure got the urge and now I know how hard it is to step aside and watch. I even got my detector out, tossed a few coins on the ground hunted them just to get a taste. But it doesn't matter where we hunt anywhere within 5 or 600 miles I can do. I would love to make that Texas hunt if Warsaw Daddy puts it on again this fall. Monty

Burdie put me in charge of the medallions next year, so I think I'll use GPS and make sure I know where they're at :laughing7: :laughing7:

A look at the 1899 Barber Half I found at the Caldwell Park Sunday morning. Found it directly in front of the big gun on the tank at the West end of the park. Wonder how many times that park has been hunted?

Evy, just checked with Barbara, she said the room was cleaned after you checked out, staff did not turn anything in. Someone else is in there, so can't go look under the bed or anything. Barbara said she would specifically ask the staff about it, and get back to me. She took me to the staff work area, there was nothing there that would belong to any of us (not that I recognized anyway).

Sorry to hear it's missing. I'm sure if any of our crew picked it up, you'll hear about it as they get home and see your note.

Be Blessed and sorry I missed you on your way out!

:icon_thumright:This was truly a great hunt with great hunters with some awesome finds made! :icon_thumleft: I think the heat was tougher than the ground and the rain made it nice as well except our camping trailer leaked at the roof vent. What I slept on weighed about 30 pounds the next morning :laughing9: Great food great prizes and great people! Thank You Burdie, Sniffer, and Mental Granny and every one else that worked behind the scenes for a great job! :notworthy:
