Spurred on by Colins Comment that I should have found something special by now. I got my mad up today:laughing7:. result a nice chunk of Celtic gold. No id as yet, it will be though from the Corieltauvi tribe, and date to before the birth of Christ. Not hammered silver, but beggers can't be choosers:laughing7:.

Robert.

No banner yet...will add my vote to get it up there! congrats

Action shots/selfies of digging it up.:dontknow:

I also believe it should of gone up 3 pages ago, it's a banner find in my eyes. Folks do a lot of digging before one of these beauties ever surface, for some it may never happen. A rare find for sure!

Please dont leave! I hope this find will get the banner it deserves. Many people like myself have learned a great deal from you guys across the pond. I never see coins/relics like this in the US. Learning about the history is always fascinating.

I don't pretend to understand banner finds. I basically feel like Abe. Rob your gold coin (IMHO) is the best thing I have seen posted this year. It's image is burned in my memory and therefore banner in my mind. In fact Vino and I were talking about it the other day while hunting a colonial site.

True.

I like your strap line ; 'I would rather earn less and smile more'. That is exactly what I did a year ago, go part-time or as I like to joke with the hard workers 'semi-retired'!

Thanks buddy. I could earn here times as much going to sea in the merchant marine, but I instead stay near shore, close to the kiddos, fishing on the job, and detectin'.

BUMP
and banner

Do we get an explanation from the moderators at some point ? (or did I miss it ?) If this isn't Banner material, just take the banner down
altogether !

Banner nomination sent.

Congratulations on a fantastic find, Rob. You dug something that few every have the privilege to dig! Such a beauty!!

Cheers,

Buck

Not sure what it takes to make banner, but this ought to be there. Hard to believe that the hold up is the number of votes. And monetary value shouldn't be it, there is one on the banner now that isn't worth 5 bucks. Cool factor can't be it, because what's not cool about a Celtic Stater? I know some people like in-situ pics and pre-cleaned pics, or a big story, as if they prove anything. Those are all easy to fake. All I know, is its a great find, and I'm glad you found it and shared it here. I hope you keep sharing your great finds. I enjoy your posts, whether they make banner or not!

Bump and banner needed!

CONGRATS ON ANOTHER BANNER!

At last!!

my head was hurting from all the bumping!!!

Well deserved and some great support here!! (especially fellow Brits :occasion14:)

congrats on the banner rob,I knew it had to make it up there sooner or later.I have a feeling they might have just been waiting to have a little separation from frogmasters coin, that's the only reason I can think of why it took so long.It looks nice up there:thumbsup:
