Spurred on by Colins Comment that I should have found something special by now. I got my mad up today:laughing7:. result a nice chunk of Celtic gold. No id as yet, it will be though from the Corieltauvi tribe, and date to before the birth of Christ. Not hammered silver, but beggers can't be choosers:laughing7:.

Robert.

Rob... there is a chance this might not make banner.:dontknow: But you know as well as most of the people who have responded to this thread that this type of find is what we all dream about, and keeps dragging us back into the fields during all weathers.

It will always be a banner in our backs, up top or not... Fantastic stunning find mate.:notworthy:

I think you have to write up a story, to be up there. Some bloody lines about slogging through muck up to yer arse in the driving rains, blowing winds that would whip the nickers off, there laying in the mud looking at the gods was the gold, bla, bla, bla you get the point.:laughing7:

I can't believe it's not up there yet, congrats once again on the fantastic looking Stater Robert.

Pepperj, I get the drill. "Cut me, do I not Bleed":laughing7:

Love these gold staters, as far as I'm concerned they're among the best looking of the ancient coinage. Great find, thanks for showing it off.

I visited Philip when he worked in Oxford, & emailed him quite often, but I didn't think he took emails now?

Hello Cru. I've sent it to his culture and leisure email address , as you say is old oxford email is no longer valid. Not had a reply yet though.

Very nice find. Definitely banner worthy

Your stater in the above post is very similar to one I got.

Action shots/selfies of digging it up.:dontknow:

I also believe it should of gone up 3 pages ago, it's a banner find in my eyes. Folks do a lot of digging before one of these beauties ever surface, for some it may never happen. A rare find for sure!

2000+ year Gold coin worth nearly a grand and not on the banner, time for the UK boys to go post elsewhere.

I voted banner but no dice. Hey throw some wheat pennies on it and take some new pics. Add an award winning write up and you'll get banner fo sho. The find doesnt matter you see.

You know this as well as anybody bud. Very confusing. Mass silver and cobs....not worthy. 2000 year old gold coin....not worthy.

We know this road & this road = no banner. So stick to the 'nice finds' comments.

Do I get a vote? they are gorgeous.

Of course you do, just click the red Nominate Banner on the header of the first post, don't forget to write a comment why you believe it should be up on the Banner. Thanks for asking.
