We actually went rockhounding in warner springs instead. Found some cool rocks and beryl crystals. Well be there next weekend weather permitting.

Cool, maybe we can meet up, that is if I don't drag a buddy up to East Fork this weekend.

Any San Diego folk familiar with spots around Anza Borrego? Digging in the preserve is strictly a no no but it isnt too far from Julian and maybe some other desert gold. I'll be moving out there soon for work and I need to feed the gold bug somehow. Anyone familiar with Treasure Seeker or SPMA claims know fi something is out there?

Other news, couldnt hit EF til tuesday. Spent the first half of the day sampling empty holes and digging in waist deep water finding almost nothing. Ended the day with a few sample buckets on some easy digging and found some decent size flakes for lower river.

There is a spma claim off banner grade rd. The other ones are pine valley and warner springs (gems). They have others near palm desert. Not sure about treasure seekers. Gpaa has a claim in the area in Santa ysabel at the bottom of Inaja memorial park.

Thanks! Looks like any trips I'll be making take me through Banner and Julian or further east down S2. Might have to join up with the SPMA folk finally.

Meep, that's not bad at all for the lower EF. We had a good time and met up with another new friend. Worked hard sat, for very little take, found a sweet spot on Sunday and worked surface gold for a couple of hours.

Best I've found at lower! Yeah, it was probably that same hole you were mentioning on facebook. Biggest one there and i set my sluice just on the bedrock falls. If I wasn't already tired from sampling worthless spots, Im sure that hole would pay out well. I want to take some trips up a few miles and dig some deeper holes but, for quick trips, at least Im back on some decent gold at the bridge.

Digging around up the bank before I was finding a small amount of the stuff you got there. Real small and real scarce in the test pans.

Its official, working and living in Agua Caliente/Anza-Borrego starting May 2nd. Looking forward to 115+ degrees in the shade. Technically, still San Diego County...but about as far as you can get. Anyone else know of any gold spots out there I'm definitely interested.

It looks to me like your on the fast track to becoming a desert prospector Meep and thats a good thing.. I put it off for years (mountains and foothills is where I like most) but the truth is when it comes to Southern California, that's where most of the gold is. Water is key to large scale commercial placer recovery and since there is so little out there, its kept large scale exploitation to a minimum over the past 200 years. Wanting to increase take, I bumped my desert prospecting game way up this past year and the results have been impressive. These gas blower drywashers allow good recovery of fine desert placer and there is a lot of it out there for the small miner not afraid of heat and hand tools. I'd be glad to share what I've learned, shoot me a PM if interested.....Rob

I will definitely appreciate the advice! Always been curious about dry washing/desert prospecting but never had the opportunity present itself. I'll be looking to put together some things when I get out there and get the lay of the land a bit. I'll send some messages your way once I get settled, got a few questions Im sure you could help with. Thanks Rob.
