Ok, this wasn't this past weekends find but it was last weekends find.
Thought I would do a little detecting up on the mountain here in Alabama.
But I found out it might still be a little early. I was just a swinging away in the woods
when all of the sudden I just happen to look ahead of me a few extra feet and there
he was, one big ugly timber rattler. Well since I had not found anything else that day
I tied him to my detector and went home. (after I hit him in the head with a club) ;D
Then I mounted him this past week, and it turned out pretty good..
Sending a few pics. Please be careful out there, those no shoulders are moving
around.

In the Northeast Timber's are uncommon and endangered.I can't see killing one of God's creatures in the wild, doing what God intended it to do.If it was in your yard or by an inhabited area ,that could endanger someone, then it should be eliminated.

Most city slickers never get to see real snakes, maybe at the zoo. They kill them off with skyscrappers and smog, and then try and tell the rest of the world what to do to save them ...I think you did a nice job on that one

I hope you feel really tough now since you killed it. >:( ::) I, too, would NEVER kill an innocent creature.

Spoken like a true Vegan..............oh, what's that? You eat meat, do you?..........well I have news for you. That chicken the Colonel fried didn't commit suicide............

I've dug up two snakes in my life........wasn't fun. Personally, I like myself better alive than dead, but that's me.

Great looking mount.

Real shame that you had to kill him in order to detect. Not one of those animal rights tree huggers, but again, real shame that you had to kill him. I'm sure that it was either him or you.

I'm not going to enter into the should have, shouldn't have of this post but lets not try to escalate it by drawing distinctions between city and country folk. I grew up in country Australia and people here know that more people get bit trying to kill snakes than if they leave them alone. In a country with many of the worlds deadliest snakes this is good advice. For example the Taipan is 10 times more venonmous than a rattlesnake and 750 times a comman cobra. Of all the snakes I've almost trod on out bush I've never met the same one twice ;D

Just so everybody knows I believe the snake did not pose for the first picture. He was already dead. Also you are lucky he did not see you or your little dog first. What kind of dog is that? Looks like a shitzu. ???

Holy crap that gives me the chills.......... I am scared Sh*t less of snakes! You'd probably find me running away from it! hahaha

Around here its water moccasins and coral snakes with just the occasional eastern diamondback.
note to self: add S&W.357 mag to detecting kit...
::)

Hey Bassmstr,
I was told when I got my little dog that he was part shitzu and part some kind of Terrier.
He is a very smart dog and loves to be in the woods with me.
One thing he does while we are in the woods is he looks for the highest place he kind find when I'm
digging and sits there and seems to be watching all around. But it's funny because he will climb rocks or
trees if he can get in them to watch me.

Very nice mount, did you freeze dry him? I use to mount for American Sportsmen back in the 80s. did many mounts but not many snakes. Great job

I hunt a remote island each year that is covered with moccasins, diamondbacks and pygmies. Almost where ever you step there is one. We always take back a few hides of the diamonds.

A Good Snake is a Dead Snake ... Thank God I like People! :icon_pirat:

Nice job on the mount. Just to let you know, I love snakes. At one time I had over 20 snakes and lizards. I consider your mount as a form of art. Just ignore the negative comments. These are the same people that consider smearing blood and crap on a statue of Christ art. :tard:

looks like a timberback rattler indeed, they blend in very well don't they. I haven't seen a timberback one in woods in a long long time. Nice mount set up you did and quick.

nice pictures too. also like your partners photos

Yeap I swing around that rock myself HHs
