Pirate Treasure-Trying to get a permit to dig up

Did the remote sensing guy first brought the church location to your attention?

That is correct. I know I am repeating myself here but I want to make sure I am understood. I was given a GPS coordinate that when put into the search column of Google Earth it placed a small yellow flag on the location. I was able to zoom in and could see EXACTLY where this spot was. I made a copy to take with me. I went to that site and a few others that were given to me and stood over the top of them. I verified the spot with a Garmin 78sc. There was a very slight depression and the GPS number put me in the center of it. It is at this EXACT spot that the Nokta and GPR showed a buried object with the Nokta claiming it is gold and non-ferrous metal. It is at this EXACT spot that my probe hit a very solid object. The person that gave me this location has never been in the area and lives well over 1000 miles away. The method he used is similar to map dowsing or remote sensing/viewing but is a little different and more scientific.

I have five TNET members directly involved in this that will verify everything I have said about this particular venture. No one up to this point has put a shovel into the ground. Through various means we have determined that there is some sort of object buried at this site. My source initially told me that we would find gold, silver and diamonds at the spot. The only way we will know if this is true is to dig. Everything has been and will be documented by camera and video. If treasure is found this will prove BEYOND A SHADOW OF A DOUBT that LRL's and unconventional remote viewing/sensing/ dowsing or whatever you want to call it, works. If nothing of value is found, so be it. It will not be the end of the story for me.

The van is loaded. The contract is in place. My two guys will be at my house in the morning.

Its good you worked from a copy from Google Earth to match the location from landmarks because a civilian GPS could be about 20 feet off the target.

Just to back you up...had a guy in a more western state give me some Google earth coordinates (he was at least 1,000 miles away) aid we would find silver....sure did ...some state people had dumped some fill in a creek that was starting to washout near the road.....the fill was what he had told us the location of in Kentucky..it was silver ore! he was within 6 inches of it!! he had me do another one in Ohio and said it was indicating silver and gold and steel..naturally we figured it was a steel box with coins in it. ..well we went to the exact spot and suing our device we found it exactly as he said....a rock with silver ore, another with extremely fine gold, both laying almost touching a sign post...from 1,000 miles away ..he had never been to either location. There is something to these guys ability don't think there is not.

I am not sure where you came up with this. I am sure some handheld GPS units are better than others. I did testing of mine because that is the only way you will know. This is what I did. The first thing you have to do is make sure you are on the same type of coordinates on both the GPS and Google Earth. I sat at my computer with the GPS in my hand. I went to Google Earth and zoomed in on my office. You go by the index finger of the little hand icon. As the icon moves the GPS number at the bottom right will be constantly changing. If you are holding your handheld unit the number it reads should be the same number that shows up in the bottom right of the GE screen.

What I did the night I first got this unit was to look up the exact number for the center of my gate, an old race car's trunk lid near the front of my property, and my mailbox down at the end of our road. I wrote these numbers down. I then walked out to my gate. My unit averages out the reading from around 10 different satellites. This number will be constantly changing at first, even when you are standing still. I then walked around in a more or less circle and let the number start to settle in. I then walked around until I got the GPS unit to read the number I had written down. Then I walked around in a smaller circle as I watched the number constantly change. I could then get a good idea on where it was going to put me. Once I got the number to stay consistent, I stopped moving. At this point I could touch my gate.

I then walked to the area where the old race cars are. I went through the same procedure. When I finally got the number to settle in and stay, I could touch the trunk of my car without moving. I then went down to my mailbox. I went through the same procedure. Once the number settled in I could reach out my arm and open my mailbox. This unit is that accurate.

I have used this Garmin 78sc on all the locations I was given and I have found it will put me on the location that the hand icon on Google Earth gives me to within 5 feet. My guy uses Google Earth and he gets the number he gives me from what the screen says. If someone gives you a Google Earth GPS number, you put the number into the search column, hit search and it will take you to that exact spot and put up a little yellow flag. This is the way it works for me.

I have now used this method of the handheld Garmin along with the Google earth photo to be able to stand directly over where he wants to get me to. This is the way it was done at the church. You may have experienced with your tests that your unit was only accurate to within 20 feet. You did do your own testing ,didn't you? You didn't just rely on what you may have read on the internet? Where did you come up with your claim that a "civilian" GPS will be 20 feet off target? One of the differences between you and me is I try to come to my own conclusions through my own experiences instead of being told what to believe. Try it sometime.

The spider bite continues to get bigger. I saw the pictures you posted of your spider bite. Mine is bigger. I wish I had seen the little bug-ger before he bit me. I usually don't wear anything but a t-shirt and shorts when I work. Last week I put on a pair of painter's coveralls to spray the polyurethane. I think the spider was inside them and got a little pissed off about it and decided to let me have it. I am hurting but I hope he is dead.

A quote from Geotech. You can substitute used an LRL or used remote sensing for dowsed.

Q: Isn't it true that people have successfully dowsed for treasure?

A: It's absolutely true that people who use dowsing devices have found things, including water, treasure, missing people, and even golf balls. It's also true that people who use nothing at all have found water, treasure, missing people, and golf balls, among other things.

I have been hiking the Everglades for over 40 years sometimes with the Florida Trail Association. . This is what I do when its not summer in South Florida. I will record a trail on my GPS and try to follow it back later in the day or several days later and its always quite a few feet off. It can easily be 20 feet off. As an example, sometimes too far to the left and at other times it can be off to the right. I thought this was common knowlege for anybody that spends anytime hiking with a GPS. My guess is its set this way on purpose for civilian use but its just a guess. I never read up on it or did any research. But like I said its a good thing you worked from a Google Earth photocopy using landmarks instead of a GPS. I use a Garmin and I think it also has about 10 satellites. I will have to check. Are some units more accurate than others? I dont know. The units of my fellow hikers seem to experience the same phenomena. It never bothered me because if it gets me back into the same general area, I will find the trail.

My spider bite continued to get worse until I was on my last couple of pills. The recluse likes to hide in clothes.

I edited my post. All I know is that I mark my trail on my GPS and when I follow it back, its never on the same trail. And this seems to be experienced by other hikers. I have used 2 different Garmins and both were accurate only to within 10-20 feet. Mine is a Garmin etrex vista HCx with electronic compass.

Unless I was trying to find a location in the water or in a really big field I can usually go by the Google Earth photo to get to the spot I want to. Hiking and following a GPS would be different story. I also have the advantage that I was a Combat Engineer in the Army. I had extensive training using nothing more than a compass and topographical map to get to exact locations. Our squad won the night time compass course competition when I was in Panama for Jungle Warfare School. I was the compass and point man. I have never liked to rely on anything electronic if I don't have to.

My bite wound is starting to look like the ones in the pictures on the internet. Check out brown recluse spider bites.

Is this something that you really think proves anything at all? Kind of silly if you ask me. Which flavor of Carl's Cool-Aid do you like best?

Hey BDD and BCH I used a Garmin 276c and it was accurate to 5'. It would capture 12 satellites. My marine units are accurate to 3'. The govt. used to limit the accuracy with a program called "selective availability." This was to prevent foriegn missles from getting accurate targets in the US.

I recommend a nice Cabernet with a dinner of crow tomorrow.

Wish I could join but have another engagement.

I am sure you will video and post it for us.

In all seriousness, I wish you luck. I think most of us look forward to what you will post when (if) you hit the big one.

I dont need a GPS either and I certainly dont rely on but Im not one to brag. I carry it but I rarely use it. Thats why it never bothered me that its not accurate.

OK great that explains it. 5 feet is better than mine.

My original reply was directed to Curtis but it can apply to you as well.. It doesnt prove anything BDD. Just something to think about. You need to open your mind.

An old church...an indentation in the ground...a ferrous metal signal....a solid object one foot down... Geez BDD you could have found this spot without the LRLs. There may be treasure and there may not.

I dont have any remote sensing abilities, yet I picked the exact spot on your map of your buried pirate silver location. Remember? I just used a little common sense and experience along with power of suggestion. .

I need to open my mind? You are so funny! You are the most close-minded person posting on this thread.

The guy that sent me the spot did not know there was an old church. The indentation in the ground is so slight you almost have to lay down to see it. The Nokta detector has consistently said there is non-ferrous and GOLD at the spot. The GPR shows a buried object. The probe hit a solid object one foot down. Oh yeah sure, you will get these results anywhere. Get real! Typical BS reply from a hard-headed, close-minded guy who would probably never admit he was wrong about this. If I find something valuable you will probably be the first to say it was just luck or coincidence.

Yes, you did pick the exact spot on the buried pirate silver location. You either were told where it was or you actually map dowsed it without realizing it. It had nothing to do with your "little common sense" or experience as there was really nothing that would have put you on that particular exact spot.

Get out on the water and you will change your mind about needing a GPS. I like to brag. I carry my GPS unit and use it at every location. I call this practice, otherwise why bother to carry it. I am using it to try to find treasure. not for walks in the woods. It would bother me if mine was not accurate and I would probably do research to find out which one is supposed to be the best. Oh yeah, that's right. I did do the research and did figure out which one was supposed to be the best. I then got a GREAT deal on one that looked brand new at a pawn shop.

I don't drink alcohol but I certainly recommend that you drink it to ease your sorrows. Sorry but you were never given an invitation on this one. I have decided to keep all the party-poopers away from my festivities. I will post pictures no matter what is found. For the record you claim it will be an "empty hole".

Im just saying an old church is a great place to metal detect maybe he knew and maybe he didnt and you dig all signals especially non- ferrous signals. Yes if you find diamonds and gold (microscopic gold doesnt count), I would certainly consider changing my closed mind. But Im afraid its a pipe or something. Like someone said an old well.

Im wiling to believe in anything. Take the Ouija Board for instance because it was mentioned. I have never used the Ouija board to find treasure but if someone else does, its their business and Im open to listening. But if the Ouija Board pointed to only empty holes, I would dismiss it and eventually get tired of following the story.

Arent you digging today?
