Pirate Treasure-Trying to get a permit to dig up

A few guys with flashlights and shovels and you will be in and out quicker than you think. If necessary go in a night before and pinpoint with your detector and plant a "flag". I recommend doing it around a holiday when no one, esp gov employees, will be out and about. Just dig a trial hole and find out what's there. If multiple holes take multiple days if necessary. When caught tell them you lost your wedding band there and you and your buds were looking for it after work and lost track of time. You need to find it asap or your wife will kill you. If this doesnt fit your senario create your own story that invokes pity, etc. Worst case you get booted and a nasty talking too. Yes I've done it - didn't find what I was looking for but at least I was able to cross the site off my list pretty quickly and move on. Got to take a few chances playing this game. Got to go for the simple solution ( get out there and dig) instead of wasting time on thinking of things like lawsuits, mass protests, going to the UN security council, etc. always better to ask forgiveness, than wait forever to get permission. Of course im not advocating anything hugely illegal here like battlefield digging etc. As Nike says - just do it!! Best of luck.

ECS-All my posts on here were after dealing with the State archaelogists. 0121stockpicker-All good advice except I have brought too much attention to myself about this site. My biggest mistake was thinking i could get permission to dig. The reason for this was that they seemed willing back around 2005 to let me do it. They had a change of command at the FDOT. All I can say is we will eventually know what is there.

Unfortunately the default answer for all bureaucrats is "NO". A YES requires more work, forms to be filled, risk to ones job if there is a screwup, etc. they are also unlikely to see any personal benefit so no upside only risk. I especially think this is true of state and federal agencies. Locals can sometimes be a little more reasonable.

That is amazing!! I'd love to be part of it, even just to be there would be really cool!!!!!!!!!!

Jose Gaspar is a myth conjured up by some construction contractor to draw tourists to florida.

What proof you have that Jose Gaspar is not real?? Couldn't someone that is looking for J.G. treasure make up the construction workers as a myth as to throw off other who may want to look for it?

I just put an end to the nonsense about buried treasure under the Bridge. A very small diameter core bit, just proved that copper wire was buried, not Pirate Treasure. I guess to someone scape pieces of telephone cable under a Bridge may be treasure, but I don't think Pirates from old ships had telephones.

I am sure you meant scrap pieces. Scrap copper wire is not treasure in my book. Just curious, how many holes were drilled and how deep did you go? For the record it would not bother me a whole lot if that is all there is in that particular spot under the bridge. Do I believe you? Not really. But thanks anyway. One more thing. The location that someone must have shown you if you really did dig is my test spot to see how people act when they think there may be treasure there. That is not where the real treasure is.

Bigdog, I posted your quote below. It's really sad if you drilled test holes and knew there was no treasure there and you strung all of your believers along. Really Sad. Is that how you bait your new friends for all your projects???

Bigdogdad, LOL... Just who's pulse star do you think was used the first time you went there with my friends???? It was mine. I don't need your test hole. All I ever need is my pulse star for land targets. Yes, the pulse star pin pointed an area a few feet by a few feet for Non Ferrous metal. Copper is non ferrous metal the last time I looked.

You should thank me. Now you can move on to the Everglades or the cooking pots or some other target. One more target is debunked as Pirate Treasure. I wish you luck, now try somewhere else.

Did Ovid use his dowsing rods under the Bridge too ????

old man-I myself have never drilled drilled any test holes and I have not seen anyone else do it. I do not know for a fact what is buried at the one particular spot under the bridge. You need to learn to comprehend what you read. I completely believe there is pirate treasure at Rocky Bluff. When I meet a stranger that wants to show me their "technology" for finding treasure the Rocky Bluff site is just one of the places I take them. I am not trying to trick or decieve them in any way.

I have known along along who owned the pulse star at the site. Your friends using the pulse star certainly seemed to think there was a large pile of silver about 8' X 10' and about 4' to 5' feet down.. Can it tell you the difference between copper and silver. I am not the expert. If there was some scrap copper on the surface can you say for a fact there is nothing deeper below it. A couple of other guys years ago used their own equipment and said there was silver. Yes, Ovid used his dowsing pendulum the very first time and was the one that led me there. I am just going by what everyone has told me up to this point and also knowing the history of the area.

Since you and so many others don't believe a word I say on here why would I believe you. You hang around with pirates and will be judged by the company you keep. These pirates may be wonderful guys but the fact that they are proud to call themselves pirates makes me question how much to believe it all. I did not witness a thing that you say that you did. Thanks for you "efforts" and "concern". You have debunked nothing.

I think that you wanting to do it legally is extremely good of you. However....I am also a believer in Karma. Your digging time will come, trust me, BUT, if you b*&%$ about things along the way then it'll never come your way. I think you are picking your battles properly, obviously you've done the research and now you just need to wait on life to catch up to you and give you whats yours. This is how I equate your scenario in my head:
Silver was stolen years ago(bad)+you going thru proper channels to obtain it(good)=You getting hooked up(neutral????lolol)
Stay positive constantly, complain slightly, I have the highest hopes for you.
P.S. I hope your car bottoms out when all that silver is transported in it, that would just be so crappy wouldn't it? *rolls eyes and smiles*

By the way it is 5:45 a.m. and two of my good friends will be here any minute as we are heading out to the Everglades to meet with everyone involved with that site. Thanks for you "efforts" and "concern". You have debunked nothing.

Let me see if I understand you. Someone goes out and core drills the hole. There is copper wire in the bit. I think I would call that a "FACT", not a Pirate Story. Common sense told me the first time I was told about a Pirate Treasure under an interstate Bridge, that there was probably old construction junk left there.

Nice story you have about a Pirate Treasure. It now belongs in a Fairy Tale Book.
You're the only guy I know that Baits people ( Your words, not mine ) and then when someone PROVES the story to be wrong. You attack them.
A real man admits when he is wrong and moves on.

old man-I will ask again, how many holes and how deep? There is junk throughout the area. When there is junk everywhere it is bound to be over or around treasure sites. If you read back through just about any of this thread, I have stated time and again that there may be nothing but junk non-ferrous metal at this particular spot. Somebody in the past found a 4 foot piece of indoor house phone line. Is that all there is at this site? Phone line? Do you know how easy it would be to dig up some junk that you detected on or near the surface and then fail to dig down to a possible treasure below. I am not saying for a fact that this is the case at this site. So I will ask once again, when you drilled, how long of a drill bit did you use and how many places did you drill? Fairly simple questions don't you think?

Do you consider me asking these questions to be attacking you? You must be pretty thin-skinned. As far as me baiting people, I have had people from T-Net come to my house. I have welcomed these complete strangers and then took them to the bridge site and other sites. No one has complained or felt they were being taken advantage of. In fact they all seemed to have a good time and have gone away feeling they have a new friend and may now know of some possible treasure sites that they did not know about prior to meeting me. Would you take a perfect stranger to your treasure sites to see what they come up with? Just about every person or group I took to the bridge site felt there was treasure there and usually in more than one location.

I did not ask you or anyone else to go and drill at the bridge. You did it on your own. I will assume you are not lying about this but I have a tendency nowadays to not believe everything I am told. This is especially true coming from someone that I have never met. old man, I have invited you to my house and you did not take me up on it. Apparently you were willing to go drill at the bridge and seeing as how this is only 5 minutes from my home I will assume that you have no desire to meet me in person. You will find out that this was a mistake on your part as I am no longer interested in meeting or dealing with someone with an attitude like yours. I wish you luck in your old age. You have missed out on a "golden opportunity".

By the way, make no mistake, I am definitely a real man. Ask anyone that has met me in person. If I am wrong I will admit it on here. For the record it has been others that have done the dowsing, LRL's, metal detecting, books, newspaper articles, local legend, lore, etc at the bridge site that have TOLD ME that there is treasure at Rocky Bluff. What have you PROVEN me wrong about?

Bigdogdad, I think we need to clear some things up about your inaccurate post. First of all you never invited me to your house. Second of all you claimed there was Pirate Treasure buried under the bridge. Next you finally come clean and admit that someone dug up a 4 foot piece of telephone cable. I don't recall you ever admitting this in any of your posts.

If I remember correctly you originally stated that the Pirates were being chased when they dug the hole for the silver. Common sense would tell me that if someone is being chased, they wouldn't have time to dig a hole and if they did it wouldn't be very deep.

Finally admit that LRL operators told you where the site is. I guess you finally found out that those stories and LRL operators were wrong. Yet you take no responsibility to admit that you are still trying to fool people and content that silver is buried under the bridge. Did you find your gold in the swamp today???? I would think that a rational person would know that a wagon full of gold, would never make it through a swamp.

old fartman-I have greatly over-estimated your intelligence. You are now the straw that broke the dog's back. I am sick and tired of your repeated insults. I have no need for this and will no longer waste my time defending myself on treasurenet. I hope this makes you and your pals feel better. Good riddance to you and your cronies. I am done.
