Britain and France was two super powers in that era.

In simplistic terms because there was many other factors in Why Britain has lost the war? Some of the driving factors was the ineptitude arrogance and poor judgment made not just militarily but also politically. The Death blow was After French assistance helped the Continental Army force the British surrender at Yorktown, Virginia, in 1781, the Americans had effectively won their independence, though fighting would not formally end until 1783.

So amigos the birth of the United States had ushered changes all over the globe eventually inspiring Spanish Americas to rise up against the Spanish. So the war of independence had a much bigger impact that just being independence of United States. It ushered in great changes democratic institutions free from imperial rule all over the world.

Read a real history book about the winter at Valley Forge where food, shelter, clothing and shoes were totally lacking and did not survive.
