To Say Something Is...Does It Make It So!
There have been many debates on the topic of Coir Fibre found on Oak Island.
Many have said that this fibre's analysis was originally stated... that it appears to be Coconut Fiber.
Searchers thought being Pirates (who may have been responsible as the Depositors)...That Pirates, Treasure Islands and Coconut Trees all seemed to go together.
During the 17th and 18th Century Hemp fiber was the fiber of choice for making rope and Oakum would have been remade from these ropes to be used for ship repair and the sealant of possible Tunnels on Oak Island.
Oakum
"Oakum is a preparation of tarred fibre used to seal gaps. Its main traditional applications were in shipbuilding, for caulking or packing the joints of timbers in wooden vessels and the deck planking of iron and steel ships; in plumbing, for sealing joints in cast iron pipe; and in log cabins for chinking. In ship caulking, it was forced between the seams using a hammer and a caulking iron, then sealed into place with hot pitch."
There were advertisements for the sale of Oakum around Oak Island.
Hemp Fiber
Hemp fiber and Coir fibre appear very similar.
Coir Fibre
But... as of Season 7 Episode 15... all comparisons have been laid to rest with their announcement that what has been found on Oak Island is very definitely... Coconut Coir Fibre!
