Why is everyone sure the ladder is the bat cave. Isnt it possible that the team found somthing other than the bat cave.

Please tell why are you guys so sure.
Is there somthing that gives it away.

Oh, there IS a surprise. :laughing7:

Waiting for the evidence plant myself, to assure the crowd that Concrete Evidence exists that:..........(get ready to laugh with me on this one)

Geronimo was going to trade a Guano Cave for his freedom !

:laughing7: That will even make history laugh :laughing7:

What happened to your web site Terry ?
Nobody interested in Rich Hill or the Bradshaws anymore ??
You should give the producers on the other thread a holler. Maybe they'll do a show about you and you'll get to be famous too. :notworthy:

Every deep cave out there has guano in it,Eldo.
This one has way more than the others though, like a big sand dune of the stuff.
If Geronimo really did have a cave stuffed with the " treasures" stolen in raids by the Apache on settlements and Missions, then it might very well contain gold, silver and church decorations such as crosses of various types. And it would probably also have bats and guano as well.
Just sayin....

What makes everyone think its the bat cave. Other than the ladder.

I have never seen it,so I would like to know. Thanks

EASY.....Few of us on here has been there and know every inch of the place....watching the show its a no-brainer that it is the same place!!

Don't know about everyone johnmark, but those of us who HAVE been there can easily recognize it....even without the ladder.
The rock face and slope below...covered in dry guano pellets. The shape of the opening and the downward looking shots of the four guy climbing the steep slope up to the cave are very familiar. As is the canyon view used in one promo still.
I also recognized the place where the medicine wheel was constructed for the show. It's an interesting rock outcropping down in an area near a road where target shooters often congregate. Ruined in a way, because it's littered with spent brass, broken glass and other garbage typical of such places. It can probably be seen from the road as well.

Good enough that makes sense. I know what you mean about the mess. The last time I was there. Somone left broken egg shells near where I camp. The nats were terrible. People should clean up their crap.

I have retired. I did two specials with the History Channel as a consultant. The last one was "What is the Earth Worth."

Thanks for the informative answer Terry.
Should we assume that you were disappointed with those programs, and expect those who starred in this series to be as well ?
Not being facetious, just wondering

No. I turned down two "reality" show offers based on my business (we shot one pilot that was awful so I said no), and did the two fact based documentary shows. I wanted anything I was in to be a good thing for my business, not something that made me look like a cartoon character.

Who knows how they will depict the bat cave? But, the very fact that it is being depicted on a treasure-hunting shows that they are trying to depict it as having something of value. The reality is that there was a guano operation up there many years ago (circa 1930) where they cleaned out all the guano to export it as a vital ingredient in the production of gunpowder at the time. So if there was ever anything of value up there, it's long gone by now.

Some fool is going to think otherwise, and try to get up there. The only thing he'll succeed in doing is endangering himself and the fragile bat population that's up there, not to mention the risk of contracting histoplasmosis, or rabies, or getting knocked out by the ammonia fumes.

Thanks deducer!

OK. Nuff said on that.
But I think we should give this series and the guys a fair shake, considering their admission that it's more of a thrill show than true history, and see how it all goes before we start trying to knock it down. I plan to watch it for the scenery and sake of my friends, and to guess what they will do next, rather than it's accuracy anyway.
Agreed ?

Well said. I agree absolutely.

They have done more in the first episode then "Oak Island" did in a year! I'm hooked now. I will be reading up a bit on "The Lost Dutchman Mine"

So how did the Dutchman and Peraltas get their horses\mules up the mountain if they were following that map? That's some serious **** terrain
