maybe soon you can only use Marsh Mellows for Bullets in California ?

Retaining composure, the hand holding the cleaver; NOT the cleaver...
ask some Veterans of combat on here how possible that is...........

If an animal or a person is attacking and your or a loved one's life is in immediate danger.... 2 in the chest, 1 in the head.... enough said. However, if the opportunity does arise where assailants can be neutralized efficiently with non life threatening wounds (or sword slashes) would that not be a preferable option to purposely killing someone? Just to give greater clarification on what has already been stated in relation to my harvesting practices.... "I hunt large game with lead and birds with stainless steel shot":dontknow:

Compromise, compromise gentlemen. Just use a good quality 12 ga. home defense shotgun with 0 or 00 buckshot and you'll probably , maybe, likely hit a hand, a wrist, a leg, a cleaver, a gun and , oh yes, a CENTER MASS. Discussion over...
....now with a shotgun....yes maybe I could shoot in the direction of the hand....good point

My issue is a gun is not to wound,a gun is a lethal tool, one that is not to be brandished unless the situation calls for lethal means and the shooter is prepared to take a life....if the threat is neutralized then yes I am not about "double tapping",Shoot to kill, and be prepared for such.....dont shoot to wound, thats half azz and will likely get you killed

Now, now, we wouldn't want to justify what Joe Biden said....

For defending ones life, attempting non lethal means is there. That's up to victim.
I,m for ending it a.s.a.p..
If your question is would a goose load be considerate, thats up to you too. Cleaner picking out of survivor,at point blank range should produce a stop, not past a small sized room might produce a stop.

In my conceal class the instructor taught us to shoot to kill always, that was in Minnesota. Here in Iowa my cousin just turned 21 and went through it and the instructor (the county sheriff) told him the same thing. If the person is still moving he can still be a threat.

back to deer. Last winter was bad for accidents with deer in my area. This one corner next to a town north of me had atleast 6 deer in one spot over the winter. Two of my friends hit 5 deer last winter, Thank god for big trucks. Earlier this year my friend hit a deer and we salvaged it and he have me half the venison. The road is the biggest killer of deer.

About hunting- I grew up not hunting because my parents were divorced and we lived in the burbs. I just started hunting recently and it isn't so much about the kill it is about being in nature. I can sit in the middle of the woods all day and not see a thing and it is a hell of alot better then having to sit behind a desk all day.

I imagine it is simular for relic hunters and metal detectorists, its not about the finds but being outside and in nature.

one more thing my cousins instructor told him to make sure if you have to shoot an intruder that you do it once they are inside your house, and if they happen to make it outside drag them back in. This was a sheriff saying this! In Iowa we do not have the castle doctrine but you still have the right to defend your self and your property.

About nature? Now that's a spin on killing if I ever heard one...

Seriously? I have loved being in the woods ever since I could walk and it has always been about nature to me. I bought an archery tag and a shotgun tag for deer this last season and i only saw a few deer and didn't end up shooting one but I wasn't upset. I still spent alot of time in the woods and saw alot of eagles and geese. It is amazing what you kind find in the woods. For me it is about being in the woods or in the field.

Like Kuger said earlier hunters pay for most of the conservation efforts in the country. If you were to look at a hunting regulation hand book ( atleast for my state) it tells you where all the money goes when you buyt a hunting license or fishing license. I belong to Pheasants forever, Wild Turkey Federation, Rocky mountain Elk Foundation, The Arbor Society, and a few others I can't remember. I have cleaned creeks and rivers of trash, I have walked throught the woods during the spring picking up trash left behind by floods or other hunters.

Squiggy- your last statement made me think of my ex girlfriend who was very liberal and when I was driving we pulled up behind an SUV with wildlife plates and she said something along the lines of that guy shouldn't have wildlife plates because he is driving an SUV and and is destroying the earth. I didn't know whatto say t the time but over the years I have learned most hunters and fishermen care more for the environment and wildlife than an average person. Myself for instance own a small farm and have been planting native trees for the last 3 years and trying to turn my ditches in to native grass and flowers. I try to encourage wildlife onto my property. I don't hunt my property because I like the wildlife in my back yard.

Hi Arno,
Lets see..for the record I don't have any affiliation with liberal conservative etc..but I am progressive and see nothing admirable in killing.
I respect everyone's right to choose a path and hope the choice is made for healthy reasons....Oh by the way I drive a Subaru Outback and use a truck when necessary..
LOL! But redneck I am not..
Have a good day!
