I was trying to convey that unless you want to purposely kill people, why is there a need for expanding rounds? Is it a dream for some to blow someone away or to protect themselves? Don't full metal jacketed rounds have a higher percentage of penetrating a Kevlar vest? I may be wrong on the vest thing. I harvest game in order to help feed my family with all natural organic meat.

Here in the mountains around Lynchburg, Va. & the Blue Ridge Parkway, deer is TOO plentiful; hunters are given permits to thin out the herds and feed the hungry; hunting with a PURPOSE! Back in the "old days", Native ppl did THIS all the time; RESPECT was STILL shown to the animal lives taken.

Backbacon....I am confused....it is not only illegal to hunt animals with full metal jacket type bullets it completly unethical....but then you say you hunt?Also,as far as self defence....if I ever am forced to shoot somebody in self defense or of my family,it will be to kill....not wound,and wounded intruder is still dangerous.....and I will never draw my weapon unless I am ready to take a life

...you completly confuse me,as well............all hunting has a purpose!Are you not aware that bag/tag limits are set and regulated each year by the State by what the Game population warrants for a sustainable balaced population?That it is unlawful to waste any part of an animal?That monies garnered from hunting lisc. and tag fee's goes directly back to the wildlife?Sounds like a purpose to me?Nobody despises poachers or unethical hunting more than I do,or any sportsman for that matter....heck I despise hunting shows on TV....because so many people that dont understand think that the wrong things are being glorified...and in some cases they are.....I dont get watching it....would rather be there doing it....or just being out there actually,whether or not something is killed does not measure my sucess of the "hunt"

I have seen TOO many dead deers just lying around, with BIG bullet holes in 'em, when I worked for USDA, working jointly with other Feds & Commonwealth of Virginia WILDLIFE Depts. to know about RECREATIONAL KILLING/MURDERS of animals... SHAMEFUL! I AM OK with HUNTING WITH A PURPOSE. YOU eat the deer meat, rabbit meat, etc... you are OK.

I DID have "center of mass" Training on the range as part of my job; PRIVATE citizens of Virginia have ONLY Shoot To Stop "option"; DEAL WITH IT!

...I agree with you to a degree........I am pretty sure that Virginia law says you have to use shotgun slugs,which yes do make a HUGE hole....the animal is just as dead?How many "deers"(LOL)are wasted hit on the highways?
