Brad in NC using the my Garrett (by the way, it found the most Treasure)

Robert in SC

Well Robert, you were right about the "Seahunter" metal detector that Garrett makes. Almost a year later I finally used it after all the other detectors broke or the batteries were dead. At first it was a little hard to get used to, but, after calling you and learning to set it on standard discrimination mode and set the rejection at three and the threshold just high enough to get a steady hum I found it very easy to use. Earlier this month in my first two days using it, Doug and Dustin and myself found more coins in two days than we did in our whole first year of hunting. Now it is the only thing anyone will use on our boat which just happens to share the name. I wonder how much I missed over the last year. I think the "Seahunter" is good for two to three times the depth of other detectors we have used.

Scott,

Glad to see you guys finally came around! ;D ;D ;D

I packaged up the probe I built for the Garrett Seahunter and will send it out tomorrow. Let me know what you guys think. If I need to, I can certainly make a few more!

Hope to see you soon!

Robert

Awesome thread. I enjoy reading about your dives and finds off Jupiter. I have spent some time on those beaches since my In laws winter down there. Thanks for sharing I look forward to reading more.

Oh Well.
Since it is a modern Stainless steel butter knife I will give $10.00 for it AS IS.

What would you want it for, Peg? :D ;D ;)

I just like things that are from the sea and that is encrusted.
Sort of like me OLD and ENCRUSTED :D.

You guys are killing me!! Whats going on down there? Nothing posted since the 16th. You have got to realize that a lot of us live our lives vicariously through this thread. I feel like I missed something. I hope its SOMETHING BIG.

Jim

The weather was really rough down South after the hurricane passed south of there. Also, the sea hunter is out of the water right now for some repairs. It will be back...but maintenance is required on all treasure boats, even the mighty Seahunter

Hi Ballbuster
We have been out of the water for a while doing maintainance and we had quit posting what we were finding due to other subcontractors pretending they were involved with us and publicizing our finds in an effort to raise money for operations that were not even taking place. It has been a good summer so far and we have found about 350 coins and some really interesting artifacts. Several divers have joined us and it has been a very enjoyable adventure so far. We have taken advantage of this downtime to complete our computer mapping of the site which includes all the subcontractors for the last ten years except for one who didn't find anything and all of our finds. This has been very interesting and we think it is leading us in a direction that should give us some spectacular results for the rest of the year.
Stay tuned for updates.

Thanks for the replies. I have been following this thread for some time now and feel like I'm on every dive with you guys. At 62 years old there isn't much chance of my every diving again. The best I can do is flop around the surface with a snorkel and mask. This thread has put some excitement back in my weary bones.

I fully understand your reluctance to post any recent finds. It is truly a strange business. Pirates come in many shapes and sizes. (Unfortunately today they look like you and me and wear neckties).

Best of luck with this amazing adventure. I look forward to reading about finding the "Dream".

I know Scott well enough to know that this comment made him smile. I wish I was there with them on every dive as well.

Scott,

You are not only living the dream but you are sharing with others and making others dreams come true.
WHO WANTS TO DIVE FOR TREASURE? Keep up the good work. I pray God to always bless you.
The one who seeks shall find and hands that give shall recieve....

Thank you Brother,

The Chagyman......

WOW! Wow Wow and WOW! You all make diving look so easy and fun. I know you had to put in some hard work as well. The photos of the loot are great and really gets the mind to wonder about possibilities. Looks like you all had a great crew also. Thanks for sharing the photos and story. I can't imagine the treasure tales the get told onboard and the excitement when those historic pieces come onboard. I hope you all hit a big time major haul and find sooner than later. Way to cool. Sure beats a cruise on the big red boat.

The Polly L has joined us on the Jupiter site.

Unbelievable!!! It just gets better and better all the time. I feel like I'm in the middle of a mystery novel. Go get "IT" guys. And girls. I assume Diverllyn is aboard.

Jim

Well it looks like the Polly-L is in place.
It also appears that they are close to the reefs where SEAHUNTER was heading for a while back.
I am going to assume that DIVERLYNN took the early morning photos.
I am also going to assume that some serious treasure will be recovered VERY SOON.
Good Luck.
Peg leg
You can go to the Jupiter Camera and get a close up of where the Polly-L is sitting.

Scott, any update on the chalice Dale found?

Hello
Chagy thanks for your prayers, always appreciated. Looking forward to you joining us again.

JRich you are right about the hard work, but the enjoyment makes it all worth while. Thanks for the wishes.

Ballbuster, yes Diverlynn is aboard and a very capable team player who always does more than her share. I expect she will be posting her finds as the weather lets up and allows them to find more clues to the mystery. The Polly L has an excellent team and a great work platform.

Hi Pegleg, yes the Polly L is in place and working with us on following the trail. To get a good view of where they are now you have to look at the wide angle view a couple of photos below the closeup on the Jupiter inlet web cam.

Skipper stay tuned we will keep posting updates and pictures as often as we can.

Darren we had tried to give object to the state for preservation, but they seem to want us to handle it, so I will be removing it from the stabilization tank and beginning preservation this week. I will definitely post pictures when finished. I think the crew of the Polly L will probably find some great artifacts also.

When viewing the Jupiter inlet camera shots, it becomes apparent that the search site is directly inline with the historic coastline, before the inlet was stabilized in its present location, which caused the erosion to the south.

Isn't there also a turn of the century buried communication cable somewhere in that area??

Hi billinstuart

Yes there is a cable that runs to the Bahamas buried about a mile south of us. We always locate it when doing electronic surveys. There is also an old steamer wrecked close to it, with the boilers and deck laying on the bottom.
The old coastline changed with the winds and currents and sometimes there was no inlet when it sanded over. This is the reason the area was called Rio Seco ( dry river ) on some of the old maps and research. Most of the old maps show the inlet quite a bit south of where it is now and there is still a river that runs just inland behind the park and goes south past the condo's and ends very close to the beach next to a baseball field in Carlin Park, actually exactly where the cable is buried.

Here are some pictures of the inlet before the present channel when it was just a large bay and one after they had installed the jetty and dredged up land for the current beach and park area.
