live update from jupiter with seahunter

Hi Scott,

I guess we'll shoot for either one of the last two weeks in May as Cat has a break from college during that time. Since you mentioned that I brought down some good luck, I'd have to say that I musta taken some back with me when I went back up north. As we started finding a few more areas of interest to dive since I came down to see you. We also like the idea of using the airline system you have and are thinking about buying a unit next summer. We're also changing the way we look for wrecks this came about after we saw a couple of your pics. As you gave us a idea as to how to search the area we dive by using a plane . This is especially true on a bright sunny days here as you can see all the structures on the bottom and the outlines of a wreck just jump out at you. To mark the location, we use a portable GPS and then use a flying trapeze behind the boat to narrow down the exact location as were doing a fly by at at 75 knots and the location isn't exact. Either way it works like a charm as we came up with a few more areas to dive that are not on the maps. If luck holds up for us, we should have a few more to show everyone next summer as the water temp has just dropped to the low 40s and we're strictly wet suiters.

See you both next season,

Don

Hi Don
Sounds like you are doing good with your search. Hopefully this time when you come dive with us we can top last year and do even better. Can't wait for the spring.

I think this may be used to hold a ramrod under the barrel of a musket. We have found several similar itmes on 1700's wrecks in our waters.

You folks are into some really interesting stuff. Keep up the good work!

Hi Canadian Cossack
Thanks for the post. Every bit of information helps in identifying these objects. On the large end there is a small slit on one side, do the ones that you found also have the slit?

Hi Seahunter,

Here are some pictures of the musket bits I found on a 1797 British wreck off Nova Scotia. I think the top piece in the first picture is the same as yours. I belive that the three pieces shown were mounted below the barrel and held a ram rod.

Mine is not notched like yours, so I'm not sure what to say about that... (after posting I realized one of my related pieces is notched in an almost identical manner as yours! You can see it in the picture below.)

By the way, allthough I've found musket parts and some other stuff (including a syringe much like shown earlier in this thread), I've never found any silver... I watch your posts with interest...

PS: I'm Canadian so the ruler is in centimeters, 2.54cm = 1 inch

Hope this helps

Hi Canadian Cossack
Thanks for the pictures. I am going to keep my eyes open for the other pieces. I believe these are the same. If you ever get down our way, look me up and we will dive together.

As luck would have it I'm taking the kids to Disney for march break this year. Maybe I should try and convince my wife to let me skip a day at Disney so could drive over and visit you guys... :-)

What you are advertising is a toy man..lol....The equipment these treasure hunters are using cost atleast $1000 or more and will go 100 times deeper than your little toy product..
You need to be advertising to the "small" time treasure hunter slike myself looking for coins on the beach..
I laugh at you! :tongue3: :D

I used to agree with you about the pulse induction, but Gary Tassim/ Bigkid showed me how wrong that is. Motion detectors are actually more sensitive than pulse induction and work just fine in the salt water on our site. Give them a try, you will be astonished.

Dandy Don;

No this is a different boat..Scott did gave us alot of tips and the Seahunter was kinda the inpiration for our boat....but we added the ARRG touch to it :icon_pirat:

There are a few similarities between the boats. :D SeaHunter (the boat and the man) are what provoked us to go on this insane adventure. Now we're all broke, tired, sunburned, and happier than we've ever been in our lives....most of the time. ;) We never forget that we owe it all to Seahunter, Rio Bravo, TNET, and an incredible weekend a while back.

We've been quiet about our operations of late, but there will be plenty to talk about with ARRG soon. Meanwhile, how are things going in Jupiter, Scott? I hope you're on your way back soon, I sure miss the updates.

Jason

Hi Jason,

Glad to hear all is well ;D with yourself and AARG Team. If you have time pls PM me as I would like to get some in-site on how to setup an Airline system with the hose reels. Also, if you know of a good vender that I could purchase these from that would be great too .

VR,

Don

Are you guys looking to add to your list of "crew"? If so let me know, I know you don't know me from Adam, but the only way for me to get to know you guys is for me to try and join you..
