BigCy... that artifact you have posted looks like part of a 17th/18th Century Syringe. I have an intact one recovered from the pirate ship wreck "Whydah" off of Cape Cod. Your artifact looks similar... Phips

The artifact was found by Seahunter. He was asking for help with identification a while back. reply #375. Do you have a pic to compare?

Hello Big Cypress
I met with the state on Tuesday and turned that item over to them and Mr Levy and Mr McClarnon positively identified it and actually gave me a copy of a catalogue with pictures showing the complete item. It is an Irish Shot Charger, commonly referred to as a shot measure.

Met with the state and they were very cordial and cooperative and assured me they would renew my contract this week. It was a very pleasant meeting and we are looking forward to a cooperative working relationship with them.

When we start diving we would enjoy having you join us.

Pictures? How about the calendar you spoke of posted somewhere? How about shirts?I am ready to buy,a lot of little money could fill up your fuel tanks. TAKE CARE GO DEEP

Scott,

Glad to hear that you back on top of your game, any chance that you'll be set to dive this summer? If not, I would still like to see you and discuss what your future plans are for diving this site. Keep in touch -

Dandy Don

Hi Scott... so glad to see you back at it! Best of luck to you this year...

I never would have guessed that the object you were wanting to ID was a shot charger... now I know what one looks like. Very cool piece.

Also, I hope you will forgive me but I am going to "hijack" your thread for a moment to respond to PirateDiver here since he asked me a question in this thread.

PirateDiver...

If you wish to talk to me about my artifact I mentioned, email me at [email protected]
Thanks... Phips

Frankly I am more curious about what makes an Irish shot charger, as opposed to any other nationality's shot charger.

SebastianSam... you have some issue with me? I don't recall addressing my response to you.

I emailed PirateDiver personally and explained how I ended up with this artifact since he was obviously involved with the salvage of the Whydah at some point...not that I need to justify myself to you or anyone else for that matter. I think its really lame that in my efforts to help someone else out, all you can do is try to start an issue. I have 28 years of diving and 8 years of fulltime historic shipwreck research and recovery behind me. I have no need to make crap up nor kiss anyone's behind. Get real man...

Sorry Scott... my response to your inquiry about your artifact was not intended to start any nonsense... unfortunately there will always be those who see fit to create problems were there was none.

Nope... all sold out Skimmer. Guess you're just gonna' have to find yer' own.

Back on topic..... Glad to see you posting SEAHUNTER. You don't know me from a hole in the ground but I'm a big fan of your 2 threads here. I used to dive 20 yrs ago when I was young but there's not much to recover in those land locked frigid Canadain rivers and lakes I was in.

I know posting pics and stories is not the most efficient use of your time but it sure is appreciated by guys like me who never got the chance to do what you're doing.

I'll be checking back more often now....

Good luck this year and lets see some GOLD!

Trout.

Hello CanadianTrout
We will be posting more this year than we did in the past years and hopefully will have video clips every day. We hope to have the online store up and running in the next week or so where we will havethe coins from previous years for sale. The jewelers are mounting them now for necklaces and we will be doing money clips and earrings also. Shirts, hats and jackets will be coming shortly. Our contract with the state should be issued any day now and we will be back out on the water as soon as we have our crew in place.

Thanks for the reply! Glad to hear things are full steam ahead. you have no idea how i wish i knew about this stuff when i had my dive gear. I'd be asking for a spot on your boat..... sigh.

Life goes on...

Good luck, be safe, and i look forward to your updates!
