Not true, but since I have never been in the area, just flew over it, and haven't read any of the data posted except in here, I am a silent observer in general. Of course when I have a chance to pick on El cactus misjudger, Joe, or BB, I feel free to hop on the thread.

Aw heck I know that TT, I have noticed your enjoyment of having a little fun now and again. I figured as much that many kind of fly in the night and make their presence known at the appropriate time. I did for a while and now since these subjects are my kind of tea I can't help myself anymore!! I do live close to the city so I guess city slicker could be a good pun for me but the city is always in my way of getting as far out as possible. I spend more time in the woods than I do there for sure!!

Re: LDM why you can't get it !

Ok, another interesting quirk for the Peralta maps...many or most see streams on the maps, could it be instead of drainages it could be ridgetops??

Re: LDM why you can't get it !

Just a quick question here;

I noticed several mentions of the "worked sands" marked out on the satellite images. How do you know that it is worked sand, and not simply natural deposited sand? Thank you in advance.

Just so you don't feel too bad about things - a guy I know who used to post frequently on Tnet discovered many very interesting things in and around the Red Mountain area, much of it off, but close to Indian land, both sides of the Salt and on the Salt. As far as I know, he wasn't linking his finds to the Peraltas or the LDM, and probably never heard of Ramses, but the stuff he located sure grabbed one's attention. I won't discuss any of what he showed me in confidence - perhaps if he still follows the forums (I doubt it), he may chime in. Bottom line ... gold is where you find it, not where you want it to be.
I agree, its so fun to show people the gold I find here in Missouri, not to mention all the American Indian artifacts that show up too. It is where you find it and sample, sample, sample. When someone asks "how much material did you move to get that" I think "should I tell them how much it took to find it or how much it took once I found the paydirt to get it". I would do anything to get out that way and play a while. Your gentleman your referring to is very smart as he must be sampling around and it doesn't take to long if the geology is right, It's when its not and you find stuff that will drive you nuts!!

In general, a worked area be it stream bed/arroyo will have evidence of cross cuts indicating sampling or being worked. I don't see it everywhere but I do see some indications on a couple pics that could be this. Has anyone in the area ever tried any sampling of the Verde/Salt/Arroyo tributaires or old gravels in road cuts/hilltops. I'm just curious.

Re: LDM why you can't get it !

In another post I noticed Joe stating that the curved trail on the trail map starts at the 1 and curves from W Boulder to Little Boulder. How about the "1" means start hear "first" before hitting the trail...maybe to "view" the landscape to see where the markers are before hitting the trail...I relate this to the Horse as the View map theory I have using the Horses eye.?

That's true for me too. I leave the page open (this one for the last few weeks) on my 27 inch screen Mac, 24-7 and check in whenever I sit down at my IBM with windows/internet explorer.

It (the MAC) does not play well with TN. If I want to reply to anything I have to pull it up on the IBM because the MAC doesn't load (the Quote) when it says it is doing so. It just sits there and sputters. I have on occasion cut and pasted the post to a word document then after adding add my 2 cents, copy it back to the reply box on TN.

Please continue as I live in the area and have copied every picture you have posted and then place markers on my Google Earth program to match what you have posted. Sometimes your picture does not show what direction you are taking the image that you post and am surprised when it turns out to be looking southwest as in your pic of the outcroppings at Red Mountain. The pic you posted showing both the outcropping and the mountain can be duplicated from a ridge a little farther north. I have laid out a route to get to that spot which is only .85 miles from the nearest road. The only thing stopping me from going out there and getting the photo is the location. The last time I went out there the road was off limits to us whites.

I have put a push pin on my map for every one you posted but so far I am not privy to exactly what you want to see in "boots on the ground" photos. That's a pretty big area without spots you what to see up ‘close and personal’ known ahead of time.

Oh ya I almost forgot, speaking of horses, how about that little Peralta horse map thingy...here's my theory (of course this is out of the box from the Ramses deal) OK, the horse is the "view map". The eye is a peak where you view the rest of the land symbols, high above not viewing these symbols from the ground or valley view. The ass and tail, a valley with stream or at least a stream back then, the other parts of the horse take on the pattern of the ridge top(s) with the eye as a peak to view the other symbols oh and gollum's reverse effect by the word rio makes this happen...just my take, and again Jack this is between you and me cause nobodies interested in our threads any more... :laughing9: In fact I've just happened to find a place this works and dab nabbit if the little hat symbol and even an arrow show (as a very visible land formation in relation to the hat) from the heart along with the trail to get there making sense along with a couple geologic contact points (which is where quartz/metals and other goodies like to fill), but you have to find north and it aint what most people's are thinkin. But again I'm like most who've never stepped foot in the Dutchman's field yet...but I think I've got a couple places to check out if I ever get to vacation out that way. Hey its just theory (again out of Ramses box).

Are we having fun Yet !

The Horse Stone Map:

I see the line leading to the nostril is the river/arroyo at Queen Valley leading into the Superstitions, Head is the Superstitions. Eye is north of Weavers N. 2.5 miles slightly east. Use google earth to see the ears, head. Horse's back SALT. Rio reference upper left on stone SALT again......Jack

Re: LDM why you can't get it !

I agree, look and Victorio Peak. Goodies were found, the Government stole it plain as day. I guarantee you if there were goodies found "opened" up at Red Mountain be it large gold deposite/Aztec treasure they would find a way to get it to Indian Reservation or not! Our land is being robbed from "we the people" in the form of "Wilderness/Wilderness study areas" and other restrictive "un-freedom-like" laws that keep us out. It's time this $h!t needs to stop!.......Anyway here is some good brief reading in laymens terms on how gold is deposited....

A popular misconception is that natural gold has cooled from a molten state. In fact, gold is transported though the Earth’s crust dissolved in warm to hot salty water. These fluids are generated in huge volumes deep in the Earth’s crust as water-bearing minerals dehydrate during metamorphism. Any gold present in the rocks being heated and squeezed is sweated out and goes into solution as complex ions. In this form, dissolved gold, along with other elements such as silicon, iron and sulphur, migrates wherever fractures in the rocks allow the fluids to pass. This direction is generally upwards, to cooler regions at lower pressures nearer the Earth’s surface. Under these conditions, the gold eventually becomes insoluble and begins to crystallise, most often enveloped by masses of white silicon dioxide, known as quartz. This association of gold and quartz forms one of the most common types of "primary gold deposits".
Veins and reefs of gold-bearing quartz can occur in many types of rock, for example around granites, in volcanic rocks or in regions of black slate, but in most cases these host rocks are not the immediate source of the gold. Gold deposits have formed at many different times during Earth’s history.

Re: LDM why you can't get it !

Here is a neet overlay of an 1800's Arizona map. I like the "placer diggins" by the Silver King alot. Also, there is a Sombrero Peak actually mentioned on this map (but not in area pictured). I wonder, 1800'S mentioning a Sombrero Peak seems the cartographers must have known of this years prior to the map and if so who the heck started that name.....could it be Mexicans??
