How many guns is too many?

Can we narrow it down to 800,000 guns? Can anybody think of a valid reason why one individual would need to own more then 800,000 guns?

Well, I guess that is a reasonable point. Do guns appreciate in value? Pawn Stars tells me they have been dropping. Still, the cost of securing them would probably far outweigh the appreciation. I think if you were to invest in that many guns then you would probably just become a manufacturer.

At 800,000 it stops being a collection and becomes hoarding. Besides, I'm willing to impose on somebodies ability to 'collect' in order to ensure the general safety of the public. However, I would be willing to allow people to apply for an exemption to the 800,000 number if they can show due reason and ability to secure them. However, without those things in place I do not feel any one individual needs to or should be able to own 800,000 guns.

Crispin, lets be realistic, who owns 800,000 guns... The only person who could own that many would have to be very rich since they are not cheap to buy...At only $400 a piece they would cost over $320 million...


The 2nd amendment does not say The right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed and shall be limited to 12 per citizen, it says "The right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed", it places no limits on how many a person can owned.....

I know a lot of people who have 12-18, doesn't mean anything to me at all, I know people that only have 1 or 2........ I only have 5 in good firing condition myself and a couple blackpowder pistols that I don't count.....

Crispin, as you know I am very nervous, aware, and careful not to go down "the slippery slope" that is what would happen if we limit how many guns may be owned. Same reason I am against taxing them, as well as registering.
As far as a number goes, this varies widely as income is self regulating the amount of guns one can own. After all most people still have to make the house payment! LOL!

Well, I think it is OK, to own ALL those guns, as long as they are not loaded, or you DON'T have ALL that ammo; GOTTA invest in Guns/Ammo Stocks! Gonna call my broker on Monday!

blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. I have answered this a dozen time in a dozen different posts. Here is the short version:

Sole purpose of guns is to Kill. Cars provide transportation. Can you kill with a car? Sure. Can you ride your gun to work? NO!!!

I think nobody needs to own more then 5,000 guns. That is enough to go target shooting, hunting, protect oneself, and form a small militia. anybody disagree?

My friend, you prove my point here. If only the rich can afford that number then it defeats the purpose of the second amendment. We need a level playing field to insure that ALL of our rights are protected.

If I had 5000 guns.....I'd sell them all buy a bunch of smith and wesson stock and sell off a little at a time as the stock prices rise and spend the profit on merlot and Guinness and enjoy them while hanging out on the forum....works for me.
