Road Trip! We'd have a field day still digging in that old yard. It was never MD'ed while I was there either.
Though I imagine if you asked the current owner for permission they'd probably raise their eyebrows and say "You want to dig up what?"

Thank you sir for the kind words. How did robertk get the bottles...? I asked PepperJ and robertk both if either had any idea what to do with this many old bottles thru a PM as I didn't want them. Pepperj had to "think" on it but ole' robertk said "I'll come get'em" if you don't want them. So Robert and wife took a road trip to Tennessee. That I never expected. But I was very thankful they went to a good home. And THANKS ROBERT for the gifts... eggs, homemade bread and dried fruit...! All is GREAT...!Not gone, just re-homed.![]()
I don't have them all unpacked yet, but so far everything is safe and sound. I'm sorting and grouping as I unpack, and already running down rabbit trails searching them. There are a few duplicates but not that many really. Definitely lots of research to be done! I'll start a thread (or threads) with details as I uncover them. There are definitely some unusual ones.
Yes indeed and thank you so much for the hospitality.
And for anyone reading this, @Limitool 's woodworking skills are off the chart, IMO. The pictures he posts of the toy boxes he makes and donates don't do them justice at all -- they're really something to see in person. He is very talented! (And he fooled me with woodwork that I thought was cast iron!)
Well this transaction was $$$$ free. Are some worth some money...? I sure hope so for them. This transaction was just about giving them to somebody who was interested in researching them and would have fun doing so. I sat on them for well over 3+ decades and it was time they went... So their now in the "Show me State"...!Yes some old bottles are worth thousands. I bought a hoard of 60 boxes 10 years ago, I estimate about 2000 bottles. While I did not have any worth thousands, i had lots in the $50-100 range. The lot cost me 300.00 and i made over 10 times that. The most valuable are the embossed and colored ones. The guy who bought these will probably make a good amount of profit.
It was fun when I started and I couldn't believe all the intact bottles and items I was finding. That's why when one pivy was emptied and refilled I moved onto the next. Items found and DON"T ask me how they ended up in an outhouse included.... 3 ceramic dolls heads, several in bad shape pistols, salt/pepper shakers, oil lamps, chamber pot, clay pipes, eating utensils, lots of ink wells, tons of medicine bottles, lots of "miracle cure" bottles, old mason jar AND the worlds oldest/1st Heinz catsup bottle (I took a guess on last one..?).That's something I've always thought would be fun to do. I read a story out of an old treasure magazine on this privy digger who told about his techniques to locate them and mentioned many of the things he dug up. One thing he mentioned that I found rather amusing was he found a carved from solid ivory 19th century dildo 🤣
I would say that just means subconsciously you were leaving a reason for another visit.Robert... I forgot to get the ceramic chamber pot out to give you also from the privies. I think it came from England. Sorry.
Maybe running low on eggs, bread and dried fruit....!I would say that just means subconsciously you were leaving a reason for another visit.![]()
Great that you met up and now the bottles are going to a new home.Thank you sir for the kind words. How did robertk get the bottles...? I hope any members here on Tnet when they decide to meet it goes as it did with us. We all had a good time getting to know each other. We played some pool, had a good supper and then we went out and started to wrap and package each bottle. They were the first from out of state to try out the newly remodeled bedroom / bath also we finished shortly ago.
The next morning we all had breakfast and Mr. Robert and wife hit the road back to Missouri from Tennessee with their bottles. Best of luck to ya Robert on researching all the bottles. Hopefully you'll share what you find with us all. Again.... Thank you sir for making the trip.... Brad
