i watch the news too and bosnmate is right about our rights being stripped away a little at a time and also about waco and ruby ridge but he left out the huge california man hunt recently they did the same thing to the x-cop...in my opinion he needed what he got and I would have been ok with that, had they not came on national television and outright lied to the entire country at that news conference.

Donb, while these are tragic and mishandled events lets face it they are three events that happened over a what 20-30 year time frame in a country of hundreds of millions of people. Not that it makes it right but many more people have died by lightening strikes in that time frame. The fact that these are such rare occurrence a speaks to the fact that they are NOT everyday events. I see no evidence that rights are being lost and I see a country who's crime rate has been on a steady decline for decades. No offense but things really aren't to bad around here. Best.

hiya stockpicker...your right. my opinion is that they need to be held accountable just like you or i would be though. I still think we live in the best country in the world but they put their pants on one leg at a time just we do, if i make a mistake i'll appoligise not lie about doing it all together. Here's a question for you. Do you smoke? The no smoking law was started here in Ohio (centerville) to be exact. by a small group of citizens taking away the right smoke in public places. even privately owned places. granted it's not good for you but your own freedom of choice has been taken away they don't even make accomadations for smokers...

That's laughable to say the least. Please take the time learn your history before spouting off please, there is enough misinformation around here as it is. Do you think the Japanese bombing Pearl Harbor, thus drawing the US into the war from watching from the side lines, had anything to do with it? Early stages? The war was on for a few years before the US got involved. Were we not allies during the war, or did the US win it on it's own? Total ignorance.

I love it, you ignore what was said, and come up with more BS. Before Pearl Harbor the United States was arming Briton with lend lease. The U.S. and Briton were allies before Pearl Harbor. It is not misinformation, it's true, but you are ignoring the fact the citizens of the United States, through that horrible organization called the National Rifle Association, which is millions of everyday citizens of this country, not the gun manufactures, just plain people who donated private firearms by the boat load to be passed out to the civilian population of Britain. That's a fact. Did "we" the U.S. win the war? No. Did the United States supply the Allies with tons and tons of material, aircraft, ships, supplies, food, clothing and blood of our soldiers? Yeah. Would Britain have won the war with out the help of the United States? I think most people with just a wee bit of common sense would say "no" to that question. I think the total ignorance comes from north of the border. Boom Baby, LOL

I don't. But I certainly against a government overstepping and regulating our entire lives. Completely agree. On the flip side I would pose the question of if you do choose to smoke, overeat, over drink should my tax dollars be paying for people's Medicare for illnesses related to these practices. Not sure, but a valid question I believe.

I just often fear that folks watch waaaay to much negative and conspiracy "news" and start getting very strange notions of what is going on in the real world. You read some of the posts around here and it's like folks are living in downtown Kabul or the middle of some other war zone.

Call me a utopian or naive but I just don't worry daily or hourly about being shot by some random stranger or thrown in a detention camp by the government or some shadowy organization. I think everyone needs to empower themselves and realize that they are in control of their own lives. Welcome aboard.

Chicago is a LIBERAL UTOPIA...? WHOO!

Well, it's got to be a liberal utopia, how could it be anything else. After all, law abiding citizens are not allowed to own firearms. All, meaning 100%, which means all of the elected officials of Chicago and Cook County are flaming liberals, and I'll bet every one of them owns more than one gun. There isn't a single conservative person in government, the liberals own it, they got it all, so it's got to be utopia. The way I see it, the gummit boys and girls are trying to make the entire United States over to be just like Chicago so we can all have utopia. Of course some of the liberal utopia kind of tarnishes when we realize there is probably more corruption Cook county than in Afghanistan. Bummer, all we have left is holding hands and singing kume-by-ya.

hehe since you don't wanna pay for peoples medicare with your tax dollars. can we then assume that you'd also like to have all the billions given away to other countries that didn't even pay tax at all? we also have to pay higher tax here its called a sin tax if you don't smoke or drink then you don't pay it.

Dang, horrors, your talking like me. Deep down you must realize that honest people owning firearms isn't any danger to you. Everyone needs to empower themselves, Yeah! Does that mean I get to buy another model 1911. I like them a bit better than Glock or Sig. I really don't like to carry them locked and cocked like Browning designed them, that bothers me, although Marines that carried them all the time say not to worry. Grip safety and all you know. Are you going to join the NRA now that you've seen the light.

Crispin,

I know I don't have a vote.....but Clint's got your back covered dude....

Backoff the Foreigners! They don't get a vote...enough said. Backbacon is dual citizen so he does. This is an international forum. Stop insulting them and show some respect. They are our guests...

Funny thing is that I believe that some foreigners have just as many rights as we do, if not more, and don't need their freedoms listed in writing :tongue3:

Like the foreigners that walk across the southern border. They don't get equal rights, they darn sure get more rights than I do here in Oregon.

Who ever said that honest people owning firearms was wrong?? I certainly never did. My family has owned firearms back to the sixteen hundreds in this country?? Don't mistake the fact that I believe in constitutional law and logical arguments with thinking that I'm "Antigun". Many folks are so "out there" that the second someone disagrees with anything they have to say all of a sudden they are a "gun hating liberal". I believe that one can certainly believe in gun rights yet not believe that the government is going to throw us in camps or the UN will be invading. I think you will find many of us have no problems with guns we just hate stupid comments / arguments. I don't think there is anything wrong with that. Best.

The weirdest thing happened yesterday. I had to renew my drivers license and there was a question on the form. Are you a citizen of the United States. And if you read it further it said you did not have to answer this!

I decided it must then be none of their business, and I happen to know if you are not the motor vehicle laws do not really apply.....

Tee hee,, he said stupid arguments.

I guess it is a stupid argument if it doesn't concur with the ideology you hold dear?

BosnMate,

Stockpicker pretty much nailed it......a lot of people appear to be uptight or overly concerned about some government gun grab policy coming down the pike.

Just because someone may have more moderate views than others on the site doesn't mean they want to disarm anyone....someone chooses not to have arms or open carry it's their choice......I don't recall seeing anyone that may be considered moderate wishing to take anyone's weapons away...

What are you talking about Bill? Moderate people do not talk about limiting constitutional rights(BTW-that is our law here in the US)

I do not know what rights you guys care about, so I won't bore you with pretending what I think moderates in your country believe.
I will however say that I hope that you can "live long and prosper", or whatever it is Canadians like.
I hold no ill will to your country and do not even want to tell you what I think you should or shouldn't do. Because I am sure you like what you have, otherwise you would move to North Korea, or here, then you would be expected to adhere to the laws of the country you moved to (well at least in North Korea you would).

Dave: We could really use a man of your talents on our list? Can I interest you in a Ambassadorship to Zombies? If not, we really do need an Attorney General. What say you?

LOL! North Korea...? You MIGHT see DENNIS RODMAN!

Folks,

A tune for you by the zombies.....just to cheer the folks up.

Thank you Mr crispin! That really is a hard post to resist,, However, I believe that we are still in the apathy stages in this country: albeit verging on outright denial.

I am pretty sure that reasonable men with reasonable intelligence will halt the infringement of our rights before there are none.
But that has been the belief of many countries and cultures throughout history that surrendered their liberty for their safety.

While I prefer to remain cautiously optimistic, I will also remain pragmatic and watchful. For my family,, and for you.

Respectfully,
Dave
