Thats the stone I tried to post the other day. Found in Clear Creek in Colorado while panning.

These are from the magnolia mine in FairPlay Colorado pic 2 and 3 are a 15 pound piece of quartz vein found while on side of trail on hike there and yes it was like a snowy ninja mission the whole but so amazing and you could almost imagine how it's was back then the best part is how it is so hidden in this little corner it's very mystic. So many minds throughout South Park and up towards Breckinridge. So refreshing yet so exciting. I talked to an owner of one of the main minds up there because he is my daughters uncles next door neighbor and he said come summer time he said he has a full time job for me working at the mine I'm def going to think about but only time will tell where life goes but hopefully it ends up where the gold flows.

Farmer friend found two of these about 50 yards apart in his freshly plowed field. Does not look like any area rock and weighs 1lb. 3.1oz. It is not magnetic.

A few more pics of this paper weight.

Hey guys if you have any rocks you want identified,, or are having a problem with the composition, Post it with questions, and a brief summary of where you got it..I'm down to help!

I need some help with this. While sluicing I prospected around and near a swimming hole there is a highly eroded bank that from a distance looks something like gypsum. While walking by I noticed a green tinge that got me curious. After inspecting the material I found a white clay material that was gooey. Just below this material was decomposing material that looks a lot like quarts, however it is hard to tell. The farther in the harder it gets. There is a strong odor of sulfur and hot springs flow along the banks for miles. My guess is sulfur is acting on the rock and it doesn't decompose fully until it is exposed. This is a picture of the rock.

After washing the clay material and classifying I found a silver type of material. It is the heaviest thing in the pan and acts like it is gold ( or just a bit lighter ). My questions are first, do you think it is silver? And second, is there an inexpensive way to test w/out an assay?

The picture of the pan shows white it is actually silver-gray.

What are the minerals Im looking at exactly? Hungry for knowledge. I assume Iron is in there...and some form of mica. Its everywhere. Seeing quartz everywhere. White, Dark Red, Rose, Yellowish, Orange. I'm real close to a confirmed placer mine worked early 1800s. This is in a steep, deep, trench cut in to the hillside. Not sure why or what the trench is.

Test site if you see a trench. also i see alot of trenches from Gem Hunters following seams.. they get one sited alot so look at the tailings
