Got A Rock you Want Identified? Post it here! gimme a good picture or 3 or 4!

Hey Dusted, tracked down an old mine where supposedly there was silver and gold....there are 2 spots where I believed the old timer's where pulling rock out..the first spot is a pit that either collapsed or was filled in...no MD signals from this area which is the lowest in elevation out of the 2 areas

The second area seems more
promising, fair amount of red/black/quartz...

Got some faint signals with the MD bouncy 30-50 range...so I chunked off some of the rock...mostly from the backside of the arch q...here are some of the chunks.....

Crushed some whence home and found no gold/silver that I can pan anyway...wondering if I'm getting hotter or if I should concentrate in a particular area/ see if I can find/ chase the vain if possible... Anyway thanks for taking a look and for the past/future help. Could you suggest a good book on the geology of gold...Thanks!

Well M8 Im looking at sedimentary rock with A huge amount of mineralization.. silver yes copper (ABundanT), Iron and pyrite.. The mine itself doesnt look to deep tho (you said filled in?) and the sedimentary rock is going to "Leach the minerals" thruought.. unless there is some Vein (look for quartz) from a major Earthquake. or land shift... Definitely worth a look but not without a really good look for the vein.

Dusted,
We went out today dug into the veins. We got some 30 mesh pieces, only five though. Very little gold aswell. This what it looks like now.

Cool, Thanks Dusted! Hopefully the next time I'll be sending pix of the vein! HH

Excellent. Looks like my favorite stuff. Limonite. I'd follow it deeper and sample along the contacts and any fractures. That stuff loves to carry fine gold.

Good luck! :)

You think the vein will get better deeper?

yes the deeper and closer to those veins converging .. the more heat and time it had to Congeal together.. hit the base of it where it converges and send me picts of that! GL m8 and may you find some GOLD!

Sampling some more tomorrow. And we have a core drill on it's way. I'll post pics of the inside of the vein as soon as we get the drill

core drill would be fun.. alot better than loading up the trailer after smashing up the knuckles, and taking it home to break up .. just to find you want more of the center left ...lol

Was about 6 inches in the ground. Thanks.Silver rock 11 002.JPG The silver exposed part does have a ring to it when hit with a quarter. Some say lead, others native silver, some say Galena.

I just added some pics of ore to the thread called "post pics of your best gold ore finds". Can you look at them and give me your opinion? I'd rather not have to post them all over again on this thread but I will if that's the necessary procedure. Thanks.

most Silver is found with Galena, altho the Structure to this rock is NAICE! Ok so Galena has a Cube Structure to it Square... the Silver in its natural state looks like folded melted metal. or it turns black with exposure to oxygen (white in Clorine).. Copper is almost always found with silver, My personal feeling on this is you have a Very NAICE Chunk of Native silver, and should probably have it assayed ! Immediately..lol VERY NICE FIND!
