Mid Tn. Is this pink feldspar? Weighs about 2lbs. Reflective at certain angles. Thought it was a granite but was told feldspar. Love it. Found in water culvert. Can't scratch with regular fork utensil.20210902_000111~2.webp20210902_000236_HDR~2.webp20210902_000428.webp20210902_000319.webp

It's very dense 28lbs and non ferrous appreciate any info mahalo

I'm a new member seeking info.
I was rock hunting in a creek about 60-70 miles west of St Louis found some geodes and what looks like a chunk of smoked glass. What is it?

Probably obsidian.

Since you seem to be interested in identifying rocks, ill ask you if you can identify mine:cat:
The thing is, im pretty sure ive already identified it as preseli, or bluestone, but rheres something about it thats different from the ones I see when I search for it on the Internet, and ive just been wondering why that is... any thoughts or should I find someone else to ask lolView attachment 1467937View attachment 1467940
I recently figured out that this was actually serpentine

I found this egg shaped crystal looking rock. Part of it was cracked and missing. After soaking it in warm water and dawn dish soap I discovered this olive green textured looking crystal inside. Been soaking this beautiful rock for over a month. Soaking and rinsing. After drying out, I looked at it under a magnifying glass. There's some silver dust looking stuff by th green textured looking crystals. Looking closer there seems to be gold looking dust sprinkled around. Any clue what this is?

Many many eons ago south of St. Louis Misery there was a large volcano in the St. Francis Mtns. . It is shown on the Geological maps of Misery. BUT Clay could be right on the question of "somebody may have left it there".......:dontknow:
