Hmmm let's see... a wash plant that can easily process 2000+ yds. per day @ $10 a yard. Do the math. :BangHead:

But in reality even if they do hit 1000oz any other company would go broke at that rate.....they should be hitting 2000 to turn a real profit. That wash plant alone is 500k...

That's what pisses me off about the show...it's not a real business model...it's discovery funded mining..

Real commercial miners would laugh at $10 a yard...that's the point...they lost me when they went to their fake 'large scale' operation..I liked the idea of the original show...a few guys kind of hard up putting their life's savings into what they could afford and trying to make it work...then suddenly they have 2 dozers to excavators super high tech wash plant and multiple rock trucks mining barely marginal ground?

You do know what amortization is... right? Whatever they get paid by the producers is just icing on the cake.

I'm guessing you don't own a business. There's a thing called "risk" that is always prevalent to anybody that works for themselves. To put it bluntly... you either go big.... or you go home!

Actually I do own a business....and I am well aware of risk...I think you missed the point. There are calculated risks...which don't include investing millions knowing your return on investment is going to be penny's on the dollar...They are not going to get rich at $10 a yard no matter how many ways you split it..but keep dreamin.

Do the math..they lost money first two seasons... Suddenly show up with 1-2 million worth of equipment season 3...don't even break even...go to South America ..lose even more money....and now are back in the Klondike with an even bigger investment? They have twisted this to make it look like they are gonna make it big...it's just not reality...they would be millions in the hole...it's more about ratings and advertising. I love a good gold show as much as anybody but I also am very aware that this is nowhere near realistic....if they start pulling 20-30$ per yard stuff I will be impressed but 1000oz is gonna be barely breaking even on this current season.

Actually I was off on my fuel calculations...they are probably well into 5 digits per day in fuel consumption...

they would be millions in the hole...
No... their "investors" would be millions in the hole. If in fact you do own a business (whether mining or otherwise), you would know that not all years will be profitable. Especially when you're first starting up. Once again... you spread the risk by taking on investors/partners, and amortize your equipment and other assets. That's how the mining game is played these days. You want proof of some good examples.... take a look at all the penny stock mining companies. There are literally hundreds of companies listed that have tons of investment dollars pouring in, yet have never even turned a shovel full of dirt. It's all one big game, and the Hoffmans are playing it. How about you?

You all are missing the point. The money being made is not the miners or those (Volvo) that supply the equipment. Sure the miners are being paid by Discovery, but the real winners in this show are the stockholders. The show is the number 1 rated show on cable. The advertisers are paying BIG bucks. Discovery bought the rights to the show from those in England, this is why we saw a turn of events on how the show is filmed and aired. Volvo on the other hand its a big tax right off. Remember this is a reality show and nothing more than entrainment for the couch potato's on Friday night. This is why I DVR the show and blow through the crap just to see what Discovery peppered the total gold found for those who really believe its real.

Yokon Gold was the best of all of them. Ran from 2013 through 2014 on National Geographic Channel and was produced by Canadians. Discovery use to be a great channel until all the reality shows began.

ALL ABOUT PROFITS FOR DISCOVERY, NOTHING MORE...

Equipment used for season 5.

Lmao...so you appearantly think the hoffmans are a real mining operation? It's just a puppet show put on by discovery. My point stands...

And no investors are gonna be dumb enough to just dump money into a non profitable business model. If it wasn't on discovery and based on advertising it wouldn't be happening.

I will ignore the rest of your condescending remarks btw...I own a 375k per year profitable business...

I'm guessing you weren't around during the Dot Com era. Many fools were parted with their money. That same game is played with gold and other precious mineral mining everyday. Me thinks I detect a little jealousy on your part, just because the Hoffmans learned how to play the game and you didn't :D

No not at all...if I were to go to a commercial scale Mining operation wouldn't need discovery and investors to fall back on when I failed multiple times. I believe in good ol hard work and making it for yourself...I started with no help and failed once before my current successful profitable business...and no investors taking my profits either.

Good for you. Some people like to take the risk by themselves, and some like to spread it around. To each their own.

I really am amazed at how seriously you all are taking this. This show is a drama for a mostly male audience.

Do you think cops get worked up over police dramas on the big networks?

The owner of the claim told them that 1,000 ounces was not very good for that ground. This was in the previews for this weeks upcoming show. Everybody went from smiling to a "Horse" face really fast. Can't wait to see how Turd will handle this fiasco.

If the Hoffmans knew anything they would have tested. That ground a lot better then they did. Then just taking some ones word. That theres all kind of gold. It was quite obvious to me the ground. Had been picked over and all the good gold had been taken. Yes there is a lot of gold left. But who can afford to process it at ten dollars a yard. It had to be someone with deep pockets. Namely the Discover channel.

after removeing the teeth from the buckets to scrap the bedrock of fine gold , why stop there and leave all the fine gold left on the surface that the equipment left? theres got tobe cracks that have a ton of fine gold left in them. a bunch of guys out there with some big Hydroforce nozzels would do rather well considering!

So Parker broke 2k but Tony was a major a-hole and he's off to find a new claim. And acting like a brat again.

Todd broke 1000 ounces but his claim owner wasn't satisfied. he insisted they get another 300 ounces within a few days. The crew got 217, which was pretty good, but now they are out of dirt.

Tony's dredge took on water and never got started.

One episode left.

I was really surprised at the special on the Dodges. They only did 400-odd ounces, and I'm amazed at how much black sand is in their stuff, especially the big chunky nuggets. I bet they lose 1/3 of the weight to slag

Don't confuse black sand with manganese.
That gold has a manganese coating on both large and small pieces.
You won't see black sands in Freddie's cleanup total...only Jack Hoffman relies on black sand to increase his totals:laughing7:

Hey russau, think theyd let us flood the mined out cut's with a few feet of water and drive one of these around a bit :laughing7:? Maybe replace that bucket with a 12" nozzle.
