I can't believe you found more Piggman.... :D....this find is really giving you a run for your money.

I had printed out pics when this was first posted and showed it to a few of the Russians and Bulgarians that worked with us during the summer last year as well as showing them to some of our customers who are Mexicans...no luck! This really is a MYSTERY....and I hope will be solved in my lifetime :)....

Good Luck Piggman and before you find anymore....gotta' figure out what they are first LOL.... ;)

Have a great day ....

I can't believe the only place in the whole world

2 fields now, but real close to each other.

Piggman1,

I just had an idea ! Run ads with pics in the Lost & Found section of two or three most popular newspapers serving the city where you found those things, offering a reward to the first person to give you a positive ID, or information that leads to a positive ID.

Chances are, those things were left there by a local resident, who will remember what they are.

At least phone one of the newspapers and find out (a) is L&F the best section to run such an ad (b) do they think a Monday thru Sunday ad would be best, or just Friday, Saturday and Sunday and (c) cost per line of text with pic included. When running ads myself, I find the folks there to be very helpful.

If you need some $ to cover costs, give us your mailing address or PO box and I'm guessing enough members would be glad to send you a dollar bill, just to end this nightmare lol. Who knows, you might even make a profit !

Thanks for the replies justgeese and bigcypresshunter !

I've been trying to find a 2002 Olympics event, jointly hosted by Japan and South Korea, that included
multiple sports events, but all I can find is the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea Japan event, which is about football, but no mention of netball, basketball, racer cars, etc.. The latest "Piggnut" displayed on reply #907 looks like it could be a swimmer to me.

Like everyone else I suppose, I've used Wikipedia and Google and entered every combination of words I could think of, but so far no luck.

I am hooked on trying to solve the unsolvable, so won't give up.

The only thing I can think of is some sort of advertising items for Octagaon. It's a PR company that has done promotions for the Olympics, World Cup, etc. I tried to pull up specific items from them but couldn't find anything, just where they did promotions for a bunch of sporting events. You might contact them and see if they would know specifically.....

That may be a good lead considering these are octagonal shaped...

Yeah, that was my fuzzy logic in thinking about them actually.....

Edited part:

My further fuzzy logic was self-promotional items for octagon themselves, and this kind of reinforces my ideas (which is scary):

The title of the webpage this came from was "The Many Sides of Sponsorship"

http://free.financialmail.co.za/report/adfocus2002/awards/aw5.htm

Octagon's new business gains in 2001 included the Coca-Cola Cup, the Proudly South African campaign, SA Fashion Week, the Amanda Coetzer/Anna Kournikova tennis event, Eskom, the 5fm Summer Tour and TV production of the Sharjah Cup cricket tournament in Dubai for worldwide transmission.

I also know they did the world cup thing in 2002 so just maybe......

What was that reward again, LOL J/K...... :icon_jokercolor:

Thanks emtrescue and Kiros32 for the links !

I just sent an Email to Octagon, using their contact form, and briefed them on the subject.

At this stage, I'm requesting an Email address, so I can send a photo of the "Piggnuts" to the appropriate department/person. I always say, "one picture is worth a thousand words".

Wish me luck !

Just went thru this whole thread,WOW, Don't think any one has asked to maybe check the measurements of the ones that were found with the plastic ones. Maybe there are standard sizes for the Gonji game pieces just another way to check out that theory.Good luck! Great finds and a interesting thread for sure!

Dear friends,

It has been speculated on this forum that the "PiggNuts" might relate to the 2002 Olympics, co-hosted by Korea and Japan.

I found a website called Life in Korea, http://www.lifeinkorea.com and after registering I posted the following inquiry on the Information & Help Discussion Forums tab > Miscellaneous board > General Discussion forum. l hope, I hope, I hope, this produces something !

BTW, anyone seen Piggman1 posting on any other forums ? He hasn't posted on T'Net since early April !

The 2002 Olympics were winter games, in Salt Lake..There were no summer games in 2002 so this throws a kink into them being related to ,net ball, basketball and soccer or even associated with the Olympics of 2002

justgeese........On page #6 of this thread Piggman1's reply #532 includes photos of both sides of a singular PiggNut he had just found........one side shows the year 2002 and the other a basketball. I wonder why these two images were put on the same PiggNut if not related ?

Todd

Don,

Like bigcypresshunter said, "just random images ?", I guess. If we ever find out who made these gongi stone lookalikes, we will have a few questions ! :laughing7:

My post on the LifeinKorea website has had 8-10 hits so far, but no replies.

Dear fellow "PiggNut" aficionados,

Just a note to let you all know I sent an Email tonight with pics of the PiggNuts to another source that might be able to help with a positive I.D.. I just Googled "Olympic Memorabilia" and got them off a links page. There were other similar sites you might want to try. Hope I'm not duplicating someones previous efforts.....just trying to "keep the ball rolling" here.

Source: Ingrid O'Neil Sports and Olympic Memorabilia
Web address: http://www.ioneil.com
Email address: Ingrid@ioneil.com

Again, anyone know where Piggman1 is hanging out these days ?

Todd

OK yall PiggNut addicts........here's your homework assignment ! :whip2: Mule train....Heeaaaa !

Google the website address below and click the "I'm feeling lucky" button, then select a contact(s) of your choice off the site page, send them an Email, w/pics of the PiggNuts attached, explain that we are seeking positive identification and ask for any information they can provide.

(Do not use this as a hyperlinked address, it doesn't work. See above paragraph.)

I sent an Email w/pics attached tonight, to Gamebuilders Division of Taitronics, Newburyport, MA.
A brief summary of this company was included on the links page and it looked pretty impressive.

Not that I consider my Email a glowing example by a long shot, but the attached copy might provide some ideas.

Let's put some fire back into this thread guys & dolls ! We can't let Piggman1 think he's got us skunked, now can we ? :laughing7:
Someone out there knows the answer.....we just need to knock on more doors !

Last but not least, let us know who you Email, to avoid duplications.

Thanks for your continued support !

Todd

Sorry, but the file you requested, /tomjolly/design2.htm , is temporarily unavailable, or no longer exists on our servers.

bigcypresshunter,

You can get the links page by entering http://www.silcom.com/tomjolly/design2.htm into your Google search window and clicking the "I'm feeling lucky" button.

Sorry you had trouble. Before submitting my post, I tested the hyperlinked address in Preview mode and it worked fine.......don't know what happened.

I'll change the wording in my post to avoid further problems.

Thanks for letting me know about this.

maybe looking at the wrong Olympics has anyone tried the special Olympics
maybe the sponser has something to do with cars since the souvenirs or
what ever they are called are lug shaped

I was looking at bigcypresshunter's reply #930 on this thread and his pic of the colored plastic gonggi set.

If we could find out who makes the colored plastic variety, they might be able to suggest one or two companies that could be making cast metal ones. I would think their sales people, who know competitors in their industry, could name a few possibilities.

I spent my evening with Google and Yahoo searching and found a lot of what I call "ticklers" (Link ads that make you think they have what you want.), but after trying Korean jacks, Gonggi game and many other similar terms, the site directories couldn't come up with a match. Perhaps there are more appropriate/productive search resources than the ones I used.

If anyone out there in "www land" is aware of better search resources, give it a try and I hope you win the kudo's !
