Hi Piggman1,

Haven't jumped ship just nothing to add. I agree that we can't stop by saying they are a game piece or Jack Stones. That just gives us a label. A direction to look in that may be productive. If, as you say, it were a penny. We would be able to focus our attention in the area of "Pennies." Now, I think, we can focus on oriental games with Jack Stones being the most likely candidate since there are Jack Stones that are identical in shape and size(?) as the items you have.

I have emails out to the people who actually put on the 2002 World Cup in South Korea. I sent them all pictures of the pieces. I hope they can read the email (couldn't write it in Korean) and either give me some direction or send them to people they know to ask. So right now, I am in a waiting mode since I don't know where else to go. My mind can't come up with places to search I haven't tried. For some reason, I think the race car holds the most promise. It is the one really "unique" piece/sport. It doesn't fit with any of the others.

Oh well, I'll wait a little longer for a reply before I resend to some other people that were involved in the 2002 games.

I think we die hards will hang in there and keep things on track. If others don't read the entire post before making their guess or their 2 cents worth, things could get tangled up in a hurry. If that happens, a new thread may need to be started that gives all the information about what we've done up until now in a condensed format.

Daryl

Good to hear from you. I just wrote the guy who made the video that everyone is linking to. He is in Korea and I hope he can read my email. I have to wait for him to write me back before I can send him the pictures because there was no way to send pics where I got his contact info off of UTube. It's the waiting game again.

Good Idea about starting over Professor!

Another suggestion would be for all of us to go back and delete any posts that pertained to "humor", that in itself would clear up a couple of pages of posts.

Tony

I think people are afraid we will break all records of number of pages devoted to one subject. They want to stop us! They want to rule the world! :D :D :D

If these things were produced by PepsiCo and they had to cancel the giveaway, maybe some kids tossed them because he'd never complete his set?
That is if:
A. They are jack stone variants
B. Pepsi was giving them out in a promo.
C. The 1st zero of 2002 is a Pepsi logo.

Just a theory, mind you.

I will send pics to PepsiCo and see what they say. Thanks

The YouTube video was mentioned about a page or so ago. It helps to read the entire thread. We are starting to go in too many circles if the previous material is not read.

I've been researching game pieces, sports game pieces, etc, untill my eyeballs are about to fall out. :o I just can't figure out what makes this so difficult. Surely this was not the only set of whatever made. And then again, maybe I'm looking in the whole wrong direction, we have yet to prove they are game pieces.
Im starting to worry about you guys. :D ;) ;) These are Asian Gonggi game pieces. They have already been identified without any doubt in my mind. Too close to be anything else. They are been made of plastic, brass plated pot metal, rocks, and even bone. The only unknown would be why these Gonggi game pieces were made with sports symbols on them and a pic would seal the deal.
Well they are definitely gonggi pieces. I haven't found those exact ones yet but here is a video on you tube that is close (not the typical colored variety) ,maybe you can email the person who posted the video.

If you would look a few post up you would see that I am in proccess of contacting him. He is in Korea and I am waiting for his reply

Piggman!

You are so far off base with your comment!

I have spent a lot of time in trying to ID your post and have posted some information on the "red button" along with other suggestions on what your items could be.

Furthermore, I was involved in trying to ID the "ACORN", which, on that thread, things got so out of hand with insults and silly jokes that some members were warned due to the insults for the sake of being funny.

I was merely throwing out a suggestion to avoid so much duplication on what has been found to date. However, should your insults take precedence to allow you a little more fame. Then go for it, as I am not the only one that has been put down by your comments.

Enjoy!

Tony
What insult? I was just joking around with you. Sorry if your feelings got hurt, that was not the intention by any means. I have thanked those of you who have endured all of this the best I know how. Sorry if you took the joking wrong.

PepsiCo just wrote me back and this is their response:"Looks more like a "ying yang" rather than a Pepsi logo.
Mike" So I guess this rules out PepsiCo.

Just some more useless information. There are World Cups for the following events:

Athletics (teams represent continents not countries)
Baseball
Basketball
Boxing
Chess
Football
Golf
Hockey
Netball
Polo
Rugby World Cup
Skiing
Soccer
Volleyball
Weightlifting
Wrestling
Cricket World Cup
Pool World Cup
Shooting World Cup
Snooker World Cup
Tennis

Still no RACE CAR!

I hope there aren't pieces for each of those listed. ;D I'd be out there the rest of my life finding all of those. I really didn't mean to upset Tony and make him pull all of his post. We have all joked with each other on this subject. If I have offended anyone else, I give you my apology as well. Sometimes things can be taken the wrong way.

I have pretty thick skin pigman so you are gonna have to try a little harder if you want to get rid of me. LOL

I have noticed that there are several different names and spellings for gongi.

gonji
gonggi
gong ki
knucklebones
jackstones

I wonder if we are just not calling them the right name to find out the info we want on them?

It is plausible, there are two sets of "gonggi stones" involved in this scenario. Evidently, only four or five stones are used at a time when playing the game (according to the video supplied). The Race Car could have come from the second set, that is not World Cup related. Simple logic applied.

Two good ideas, now that's how we get things rolling.

One could have predicted that answer...

...to be honest don´t you guys think that if Pepsi had anything to with it they would have promoted their NAME and LOGO more clearly on those pieces ???

I still don´t think that the year 2002 has anything to do with the World Cup in Korea and Japan.
It has to do with the year when North and South Korea agreed to make Sports cooperation.
This also explains the many sports logos.
Additionally they agreed to participate in the World Cup and the Olympic Games with one common North/South team !!!!
Therefore also the World Cup Logo and The Olympic Logo !!

It would also explain a different back on two.

Charlie

You may be right.
I still would Like to see someone I.D.
there actual Maker though.

Could the Star be the TEXACO STAR ? :P

I also have a Problem with them being american Made.

#1. 2002 & made of Metal

#2. 2002 & small enough to be a chocking Hazzard.
(law suit waiting to happen here.)

#3. 2002 & no Makers I.D.

I've had the problem too but for a different reason. The logos for the World Cup and the Olympics are registered trademarks and they don't indicate that on the pieces. Lawyers would have been all over that one had they been made and distributed here.

Bootleg type item, almost one of a kind.
and the reason their I.D. is not happening.
