WTG Ann ! Now that's team work !

Todd ;D

If you read back trough the post, you will find that most places that have been contacted are listed, maybe not "listed", but mentioned. So far I don't think anyone has duplicated contacts. If they do, it would be to one of the major manufacturers, and when it comes to one of those, depending on who received your inquiry and how much research they wanted to do for an answer, depends on the answer you would receive back, unless they manufactured it. Since they seem to be from the 70's or so, The statement I made previously may not hold true.

Ok...talking on the phone to MIL.....and just sent my boys over to her house (12 houses down)....to give her the pics. She was saying to contact NFL, NHL, AFL...whatever those intials are for those sports folks (not a sports fan here), can't remember if anyone said the Olympic Committee was contacted...will have to read through the posts.

Thanks Todd....already took these pics to work about a week ago....have some Russians students working at our store, when Piggman thought maybe they may be Russian made....they never saw these before but said the button meant...the best she could translate "I AM LOVED". Forgot to ask her though...why would someone where that, what reason....not to say how many hours I have spent on this box googling through the internet...I think I came close to finding the END OF THE INTERNET>........LMAO ;D

Piggman....well, I think you finally have STUMPED my MIL.....LMAO....took another Texan to do it!!!! LMAO (she was born in Jack Co and grew up in Jack & Tarrant Counties and lived the last of her young adult life in Amarillo, now in Virginia since 1965).....she said that her friend said....that they look like "souvenir pieces someone would get from going to an olympic game"...well, I don't think so....so I guess the search contines.........

Piggman....I'm going to keep these pics with me at work...with all the folks that come through daily...I'm gonna stop folks and ask them if they saw anything like these.....I will keep a list of what everyone says....maybe something will come of it....can't hurt to try.....let's see which customer comes up with the correct idea of what these are!!! Maybe I'll give them a $10.00 gift certificate for finding the answer!!!!

OH...got an idea...(gonna' have to talk to my store director first)...but I will print out nicer pics..(since I have written on these)....and post on a board....anyone who guesses what these are or has an idea of what they are and it is confirmed will get a $10.00 gift certificate....(I'll pay for the certificate, just want permission from my store director to post the board)....what a great contest for our customers, especially those regulars who have come to this store for the past 30 plus years!!!! I'm gonna' do it....

I'll let you know how it pans out...if not, then I will just show to customers as they come through!!!

Happy Hunting,
Annmarie

I'll pay ya back on the gift certificate, but it has to be able to be proved that what is guessed is really what they are. It sounds like a good contest and is well worth it to me to find out. I apreciate all you are doing there. Hopefully we will get somewhere. Thanks again, I guess I'll have to go stand on the corner with a sign that says "will work for nuts". :D Keep me posted. In fact, I'll give a reward of $10.00 if anyone else comes up with proof as to what they are.

Hey Piggman....my MIL (who desperately wants the 10 dollar gift certificate... LMAO)... anyways...

She said to contact HISTORY DETECTIVES (they have a tv show and what a way to get METAL DETECTING COVERAGE as well!!!!!)...

But here's the link...I did not want to fill it out, because I did not find the pieces and you did...so you should be on TV!!!!! Let me know when you will be on tv...so I can record it :)

Let me know how this pans out as well....
http://www.pbs.org/opb/historydetectives/about/submit.html

I hope they take the story and can find out the answer to this NUTTY MYSTERY!!!!

Let me know.....go find more....
Annmarie

PS: My MIL prides herself in knowning something about everything and if she don't, then she'll know where to go to find an answer!!! Is that a Texan Thing? LMAO

Way to go! I'll fill it out after lunch and see where it goes from there. We might just have something here!

I have submitted this topic to History Detectives as you suggested. They said they will review it and get back in touch if they decide it is worth doing an episode on. They have the link to this post so they can see the work and research that has been done to date. All we have to do now is wait for their decision.

That is awesome Piggman.....I'll keep my fingers and toes and arms and eyes, whatever I can...crossed that they pick up on this story!!! That would be so cool, not only will, hopefully, the mystery of these items be solved, but will also give some positives views of metal detectorist....coverage, advertisement, word of mouth....need to let folks know...we are just your average everyday working person with families and a life who enjoy recovering history and removing trash!!!

Oh, I can't wait.....please let us know as soon as you hear anything...this is so exciting!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D :D

Happy Hunting,
Annmarie
PS: Hope you get out there soon to see if you can find more!!! Hope you do!!!

Hey pigman, I just happened to see this advetisement for helzberg diamonds. It might not be right but I thought it looked pretty close to the button you found with russian writing.

The resembalence is too close for it not to be. That is wild! You can tell the button I found is several years old, but the saying translates the same. I'm going to check their website and see if they give those buttons away, and try to get me one. I will post what I find out. Thanks, that's great!

A little history about the button:

In 1967, the I Am Loved® button was conceived by Barnett Helzberg as a way to tell the world that he was loved by his fiancé. Over the past 40 years, the sentiment of I Am Loved has been used to share stories of love in 12 languages across the world. From the birth of a new baby to a child’s favorite teacher to military men and women, I Am Loved is a phrase that’s universally understood and appreciated.

Way to go on correctly identifying the button! Now if we can just do the same on the "nuts".

Well bigcypress it was just dumb luck that i saw the ad with the button. I was trying to see how my chiefs did last night (which was just awful) and the ad was on their website. As far as these Sports Nutz go, I have looked and looked and looked......... somewhere out there is a complete set of these things sitting in a drawer or a box and whoever has them has no idea the frustration we have all gone through for these little nutz. Hopefully we will get enough pics and emails out there and some will come back "oh yeah, i have some of those" and put an end to our torment. In the mean time I think pigman just can't wait to find another 2 or 3 of them to continue torturing us. And the search goes on...Charlie

LMAO! I found this while searching google for "olympic nuts" not even close to what I was hoping for but too funny not to share. Enjoy, Charlie

Close, but no cigar. :D :D :D

Piggman1.........I sent an Email and pics of the so called "lug nuts" to a world wide organization to get some help.

Here's their web address: www.boardgamesstudies.org

Or you can also get on the site by just typing the following into your favorite search engine window (exactly as written here): info at BoardGameStudies dot info

Also, here is their Email address: bgs08@ludicum.org

We will probably all be six feet under before they give us a reply, but thought it might be worth a try. ;D lol

Todd

This be interesting.

I don't keep emails long as I get too many. Here is a pretty good sample of where I've been and what I've found out.

Daryl

Ah, now I see. Netball 3 never came to me originally. This is definitely
basketball. Once again they are seals, Do you know if they are part of a
set? Or maybe they are part of a collection from different sources, a seal
collector. I promise that there are a lot of them, just look on ebay. The
fact that they are the same size and shape doesn't necessarily mean that
they are part of the same group, there was (and indeed still is) a standard
form for these. I'll go home and sleep on it, if I receive inspiration I'll
contact you tomorrow with the divine answer. Otherwise I'll just give you a
few more possibilities.
All the best

These look like old hot stamping dies that a trophy shop would use.
They would have no value at all

Daryl,

Thank you for your email. These dies look like they are used in foil stamping, although I could not pinpoint the machine they are used for. http://www.generalgraphic.com/foil1.htm If you have any other questions, please let me know.

Hello & Thank You for your message,

I don’t know what they are, but they’re not foil stamp dies. If they were, the image would be reversed.

Daryl,

That's a very interesting find! In order to answer your question, I
would need to know how you intend to use them. While I am not familiar with the original purpose of these dies, it would appear that they have some connection with USA Volleyball, so you might contact that National Governing Body for more insight. Generically speaking, the interlocking ring logo known as the Olympic Symbol is registered to the USOC, and as one of our trademarks, it may not be used for commercial purposes. The USOC does not have any registration with respect to the other two images, and again, I encourage you to contact USAVolleyball to determine
whether they have any historical value.

I checked with the Match Director of the USA Shooting National Shotgun
Championships that took place in Kerrville, Texas in June and
unfortunately, she has no idea what these items might be. You might
want to contact the Hill Country Shooting Sports Center in Kerrville,
where the event was held to see if they happen to know what those items
are. Their email address is: redrose@shootingandhunting.net

Thank you for sending these images. This is not the type of die we use, either on embossing presses or for printing techniques such as diestamping or copperplate, and so we are not sure as to how they are used.

The hexagonal shape in very unusual and suggests that they are locked into position by screwing in the whole block. They certainly look heavy duty enough to press metal, so could have been used by in a metal badge process - although this is guesswork!

Good Luck

Hi Daryl,
No sorry I have never seen these before. However the emblem on the back looks like basketball which may mean that all of them are some how related to this. Good luck with your quest.
