Fishing for Silver- Fish On!s CRH Log

I picked up my last two boxes of the week today.

Box 1: 1x40% (ender and only silver in the box)
Box 2: skunk

That puts my grand total for the 17 box week at: 20 silvers (9x90% and 11x40%) That's not including the 3 40%'ers I found in CWR earlier in the week. I had a good week for me. First walkers, first bender and all 17 boxes are already dumped with no tellers angry. I wish I had the time to keep my volume this high, but it doesn't seem feasible right now.

Oh yeah, I got another mountain of foreign coins and another steel wheatie while dumping today.

amazing volume...I did seven boxes last week and it pushed the limit on dump banks, teller smirks, family obligations, etc. You have truly arrived to the high volume elite.

Thanks for the kind words, but I have to go back to work next week and back to 8 boxes. Maybe I will experiment with adding a couple extra boxes a week to see where my work week limit is.

I ended up going back to that other bank from the other day that had boxes on hand. They would only sell me one and I didn't push the issue since I don't have an account there. I ended up with 1x40% out of it, so my final tally is 18 boxes searched for the week.

Nice! I am surprised they ordered half dollars for you even though you did not have an account, I have enough trouble ordering halves from banks I have accounts with LOL
Glad you had a good week, here's to a great week next week

Sorry for the confusion. That bank didn't order for me. I was there earlier in the week asking for halves from the teller tray and I didn't have a ton of money on me, but they said they had boxes. I just went back to buy the boxes they had on hand (not ordered for me). I was actually surprised they didn't ask for an account. I would have opened one, though, anyway because they order from garda and they would definitely order for me.

Nice, are they a small local bank? I've found that those are the harder banks to get to order for you because they deal with generally a smaller volume of everything from customers to coins to ordering. Good luck this week!

It was a well's fargo. I used to not even bother going into them because I never found anything in the teller trays and they were always crowded. After a few notable teller tray scores and CWR scores, I've been stopping in all the WF's that I originally skipped over.

Nice! I don't have an account with wells fargo either, out of the 6 or so I asked about ordering halves, only 2 said yes and then asked if I had an account, so 2/3 of them in my area said they wouldn't order halves so I figured it's not worth getting an account with them.

I'm not going to go out of my way to open an account with them since I have plenty of order banks right now, but I would have if they insisted in order to get that box.

There was an unintended bonus to picking that box up yesterday. I just got back from dumping it and since I only had $500 in halves to dump I went to a branch that I usually don't dump halves at and I found a 1942S Washington quarter in the reject tube. I love unexpected silver. This is also the first silver I have ever found in a reject tube.

Sweet! i've found a few washington quarters in the reject over the past 5 years, maybe 4 in all, it is neat indeed to find free silver :)

I had the day off work today and nothing on order. I planned a road trip and mapped out my route. As usual, my planned route was way more ambitious than I could actually accomplish. I did however make my way to approximately 40 banks over the course of the day. I found some silver, but it was not extremely successful. The third bank I stopped at had $700 MWR and I bought them all. Unfortunately, they were brinks and a complete skunk. Along my journey, I probably found another $100-$200 in CWR and teller trays all together. The only teller tray score came from one bank that only had $1.50 in halves in the tray. One of the halves was a '64 which made the whole day worth it. I also stopped at another branch of a bank that I have an account at and they had a full box of halves, and another $400 worth of another box. I bought both of those. The $400 was a skunk and the full box had 2x40%. I also dumped at a bunch of banks along the way and ended up with a bunch of foreign from the magnets including 2 more loonies and 3 more steel wheaties.

Today wasn't an incredibly successful day considering the amount of time I invested, but I ended up with some silver and more foreign, so it was a good day.

Great finds, that funny money is neat I love getting handfuls of them :)
Good luck tomorrow!

Thanks, good luck to you too. I actually found a website that will exchange foreign coins for U.S. cash. They take a %, but it may be worth it if I get enough of this stuff. I've started separating Canadian and Euros from the other bag that it everything else. I just found the magnets on the counters a couple weeks ago and I'm already up to like $15 in Canadian that I didn't have to pay anything for. The other thing I am thinking about is saving as much as I can for a year or so and then taking a free trip to Niagara Falls.

How much funny money do you have? You've been hunting a lot longer than me, so I bet you have tons.

Back to reality. I have 8 boxes on order for this week. I picked up my first two today:

Box 1: Skunk (box was broken and taped. One roll was opened and missing a coin)
Box 2: Skunk

Hoping for better luck tomorrow.

Slow Week

I haven't had any extra time for the last couple of days to ask at random banks, so I haven't been finding any "supplemental" silver. I picked up two more of my ordered half boxes today:

Box 1: Skunk
Box 2: 1x40% 2x NIFC Clad Proofs ('04, '05)

I have four boxes to pick up tomorrow. I'm thinking I may have to try supersizing my orders again next week. It really isn't manageable for me to do 17 or 18 boxes in a normal week, but I want to anyway :laughing7:
