Back in 2007, I had some discussions (emails) with a man who said the following:

[Another was a cave with horizontal component, and a staircase down in a narrow, oxygen deprived tunnel. At the bottom XXXX said it sounded hollow - like someone had put boards down and filled over with dirt. Need a compressor or Scott pack to supply air at this site.

One of the stories was that once you went down the spiral stairs (on tunnel with Mayan faces overhead), you could enter a massive cave. The Apaches (White res I think) told XXXXX he could enter the tunnels, BUT he must give them one item. They said he would know it when he saw it. It was described as about the size of a volleyball or basketball. XXXXX believed it was another crystal skull.]

He was looking for a Dutch Hunter from his past, and I eventually put him in touch with that man. His friend was involved in the spiral staircase stories. The stories included a Mayan element.

Pictures are always a welcome addition to any story, so looking forward to that.

As far as death threats go, it's hard to say what's real and what's someone's idea of a joke. I've gotten threats in the past as well, but they've never amounted to anything and with a little questioning, it wasn't too hard to figure out the person making the comments really didn't know enough to be a danger.

On the other hand, there ARE some pretty creepy, delusional and probably dangerous folks in every walk of life, so it doesn't hurt to at least keep it in the back of your mind. Are they part of some "apache brotherhood?," I would doubt it, but I suppose stranger things have happened.

It's better to be safe than sorry though.

Joe - your story sounds a little like one from the beginning of Babcock's book "Chicomoztoc: A search for the Aztec Treasure and the truth behind the Lost Dutchman's Gold Mine." It's one of only 2 books I can think of that I wish I hadn't wasted my money on.

Didn't Bob Ward have something to do with a spiral staircase too?

Now I need to dig out that old newspaper article I have somewhere that has a diagram of the interior of the tunnel/staircase, etc...

I don't recall if Ward was involved in a spiral staircase, but that sounds like something that would be right up his alley.

I will wait for EB's pictures before I comment on this latest, in a long line of .......stories about the Supes. So far, his pictures look like a simple crevice, to me.

The photos of the"crevice"is actually a volcanic vent that just keeps going. We did not have enough equiptment to drop off the next level....The staircase is in another location....We located it a while ago or I would have the photos here with me..It seems nothing more than a house made in a vent. Someone took a whole lot of time to carve the stairs It would take a extreme amount of work to dig through the caved entrance,and would be easier to dig below and enter that way...But I will have the photos by tomorrow......

Hell O All,

Can't wait to see the pictures of the legendary spiral staircase. There is so much mystery in the history of the Superstitions that I can't help but wonder.

This topic starts about German involvement in search of some Holy Stones. After reading the story that Don Jose posted on the Tayopa thread about the German planned attack on Hoover Dam by way of U-Boat, I can't help but wonder even more.

The German escapee's from the pow camp at Papago Park, were to go down the Salt River, then down the Gila to the Colorado, to man the U-Boat. From what I understand, they ended up dispersed in the desert. Could it be that the initials J. W. found carved in the Superstitions, are not those of Jacob Waltz, but rather those of Jurgen Wattenberg the U-Boat commander?

Then we have the German dagger hilt found by BAYO, or Double-Jack Inc. inside a covered mine. Could it be that they are searching for something else, besides some Holy Stones?

Do you mind explaining the last photo? Like what direction (up?) and what is in the center of photo?

I am surprised you don't have any photos of it....C Jumper why don't you post some photos for us all to see? All Double-Jack does is photo all are locations..Double-Jack shares are finds with you all..We are hands in the dirt guy's..Again Joe all you ever post are some photos of rocks probably not even your photos.... post something or don't. You said the last hole we posted was a crevice look closer at the round hole in the boulder the Hunter is setting on. Don't that look strange a perfect round hole all the way through the rock..
