Funny, that,s not a metal blade though. Wont cut it.

Looks to be natural based on the cracks in the rock around it, but one of these days I'll find a way up there to check it out anyways :)

Came across this in the N section of the Superstitions nowhere near any trails. There was a generator, tarps, clothing, etc... all scattered around and looked to have been unused for at least a season or two. The shaft was about 12-15 feet deep and clearly angled off to the SW. Saw a small bit of greenish blue copper stain on the side of the shaft down. Searched through the debris pile down the side of the hill, but it was really steep so I couldn't get to everything and didn't have time to go way down to the bottom of the ravine - didn't see anything worth collecting other than some rocks with obvious drill holes.

It would have been a job to carry all those supplies in there - especially the generator!

I was really itching to go down into the shaft and see how deep the side tunnel went, but I was alone and that "little voice" was shouting that I'd be an idiot and probably end up being a statistic if I did go down so I decided not to try it. One of these days I'll get out there with a fellow explorer and see what's down there if anything.

I would have to see a pic from farther back, but that looks like the "Arrow Cave". I will check when I get home.

Bring a rope ladder.

I don't think it's really a cave Mike - with binoculars and in the right light it looks like it only goes in a few feet, but it might go in deeper to the right although it could have just been shadows.

Stay out of those old holes. Of course the grave is already dug for you if you need one.

Unless it has good heavy support like this one

Desert driving

If you can fit it carry a easy up shelter. In the desert heat it will save your butt.
Hiking get a good reflective umbrella like a Bridgestone golf. You can also use it as a hiking stick or a shelter from the sun
I was out in the Superstitions yesterday running a sluice. Under the pop up it was nice. In the sun hell. You can fry a egg on your head
Ok you carry a big container of water. Something happens and you need to walk out you need large canteens to carry some out.
In the desert heat it's real easy to die. Think ahead.

Not buying it......till ya show the GOLD! :tongue3:

Wait now, is there some part of the Superstitions that isn't in the wilderness area? And is running a sluice allowed in the wilderness area?

It's called the Tonto National forest which surrounds the wilderness area. You also need to be on a mining claim.

Eric instead of nuggets how about a photo of a tree root that was full of nuggets
