Neat looking hole, all tapped out?

Did you put that in the coordinates thread yet?

Cactusjumper replied:
Concept......

Not sure it was ever tapped in.

I said I was open to suggestion. So far you haven't peaked my interest :)

I did not attempt to peak your interest; I merely posted your own statements that you wished for someone to check out the hole posted by Cactusjumper, and asked if you were volunteering for that job. I think I have my answer, which was more difficult than expected. So I take it that YOU are not willing to go check out the site of that hole, but wanted someone else to, or want someone to offer you something to do what you wanted done?

Mike if more people payed attention to those studies and less to the Dutchman clues they could find a little Superstition gold.

Frank,

I have said this since Jim Hatt and I started talking Stone Maps and LDM several years ago; I believe most of the "CLUES" that are out there, were made up by the "REAL" Local Dutch Hunters to send out of towners looking for the LDM everywhere it wasn't (Weaver's Needle, Bluff Springs Mt, Blacktop Butte, etc). Also, so many of the old monuments have been torn down and rock carvings "added to" that to try and reconstruct the route to the LDM using them would be utterly futile.

Using little known USGS Info, and basic prospecting skills I think will get people MUCH closer than following clues. ;-)

sgtfda and Gollum, even if the real markers where there, that would mean they would actually have to go look . np:cat:

Mike they even did a study of the stone map heart area. It's very interesting what they suspect is there.

Time to let you guys off the hook:

I added somwe lines to show the rough locations of some of the roads/trails (it's all closed to vehicles now). The infamous "D-shaped Hole" is marked with a red dot. Just take the main trail east from the parking area/trailhead on the Phon D Sutton road, follow the old road up into the main part of the old barite mine. When you get to the big cleared and scraped area with the exposed fault scarp and collapsed drifts you'll find an old dozer track running up the hillslope to the top of the ridge, where there's a road. Follow that west to the end then there's a faint trail that goes a bit farther, trending a little to the south west and heading for the edge of the somewhat flattish ridge crest. The hole is right at the change in slope at the edge of the ridgetop. Just look for the rocky outcrop and you should be able to spot it.

The picture is of an old barite prospect hole.

Good luck,

Joe Ribaudo
