deus update sept 18th

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but been looking at what Garys posting on the other forum im on and seems like the update only targets the new coil. I was told by someone that there was a new beach program and Gary said not to his knowledege. He says it mainly targets the new coil. I dont know how thats gonna help the coin shooter and relic hunter. I mean im cool with my detector and I think its the best thing going now.

Hmmm I heard the menu was going to be updated. Maybe a different way or a combination of ways to view information? Either way I'm going to be happy. I have the 11" now. I'll get s smaller coil out of it and still be able to hunt relics at 10-20 kHz. If I ever have the opportunity to hunt little nuggets I still have the option of 30-40 kHz. I'm going to be happy either way. Still curious to how the pointer will be integrated.

Yeah I'm hoping there's something for the current user in there. And yeah, the smaller coil is what I'm after too, as I do a fair amount of gold panning up here. They say it'll be perfect for small nuggets. Hope so. If not, I'm thinking about buying a Gold Bug 2 for the small gold. And yes, the machine as it stands is still a beast. Never had a single complaint from day 1. :)

yeah Ive been brain storming about that new coil too. 10x6 might get better seperation than the nine? I wonder what would happen if you tried relic hunting with 30 kh? You guys who have prospected might chime in on that.

Honestly, I don't think you'd get the depth with 30-40kHz. Also, I assume you would miss larger targets. But oh those earring backs would not stand a chance, lol.

I think the new coil is going to be fun to learn. Can't wait.

I'm thinking of hitting all my old hunting spots with the new smaller coil set at 10kHz. I'm sure it would pick up on stuff that my current 11" coil can't. Hope the US distributors get it in stock soon after its release.

I took my deus to a old site that use to have a house on it the other day. I've had my at gold there and at pro. It has given up some goodies but I ran the deus in 12kh with reactivity at 3 disc 1 silencer 0 no notch sense 88 and pulled 5 wheats and a Palmolive token out in less than a half hour. The gold and pro def went over the area many times but the deus picked through the trash and hit them all hard. I love the at gold but the deus flat kicks it's butt with separation. The gold had the 5x8 coil as well as the pro. I had the medium coil on the deus. I'm sold on this detector and am happy the way it is but a new update and coil are just icing on the cake. I thought about buying the smaller deus coil but am going to wait on the new one. I have no problem telling everyone how bad the deus beat my at series detectors. Just wish I had the setup to get it wet then there would be no contest. Sry if I made anyone mad but since this is a deus forum it shouldn't be a problem. I still like Garrett and hope they come up with something new and not just remake an ace series in the future.

the nine inch coil is even better! in my test garden the nine hits deeper coins better too! go figure a 9 inch coil slamming 12 inch silver coins. I dont know why but in my test the 9 outperforms the 11 in my soil on depth. I know that doesnt sound right but ive tested it and my friend brought his over with the 11 and my 9 was out doing it.

My experience is the same as Calabash Digger's, perhaps more subjective as I have not done rigorous test garden testing, but for coins AND relics I feel the 9" is more crisp and seems to be more optimally tuned to core frequencies. 11" works in a pinch, but I have relegated it strictly to backup mode or as second detector for my hunting partners.

The 11" makes more sense for large open areas. I do like to use my 9" if I find a particular spot in a field where some finds are concentrated. Especially if a trash/iron area. I'm really not interested in the new coil or v4.0 but the pinpointer intrigues me. Wonder if you'll need the update to use it?

Dunno. Good question...

I would imagine so if it is integrated with the machine.

i tthink that there will be alot of used deus for sale here pretty soon because this new update machine that they are going to come out with will never do what the deus does now,so they will be selling their old deus to get the new upgrade the xp people are smart it is all about the money !!! hope that im wrong but i dont think so. i think that the new deus will be a whole different machine

Simply plug your remote into a computer and download the newest firmware. No need to buy a new machine. Though I will probably not update right away unless V4.0 has some earth shattering improvements

The existing hardware is not changing... v4 is a software update. So a 2 year old machine can simply be updated to v4 by downloading it on your computer and it'll be identical to a new machine that is sold with v4 already on it. Only new hardware coming out are accessories such as the new coil and pinpointer.
