CRISPINS CRITTERS

Hey DR good to see you back!

Plans are set.

Tomorrow morning=lawn chores.
Then....

HELLO MOUNTAINS!

The sounds of Fall are fast approaching; the singing of cicadas in the evening from the treetops,
Friends talking about the possible teams in the World Series,
And the local footballer's chances of a successful season.

And the SAD sight of Halloween goods making their way to store aisles.

The ads for "School Specials," and, well, y'all probably feel it, too, don't you?

Hope all of my Friends have a Great Weekend.
Go ahead and do something just for yourself....

Take advantage while you can.

Best of Wishes always,

Scott

Dang!

Just got out-bid on a text book I need this Fall.

Social Problems D Stanley Eitzen Text Book ISBN 9780205881888 Thirteenth Ed | eBay

Crap!
I've probably not gotten any Scholarships for this Fall based on being stupid and fallen from Honors status....

And I've got teeth to buy in a week...

Anybody know about some website that people go to, to ask for donations?

"This just in... Scott is poor. Can't really even eat ramen!
And he says,
'My brain hurts.' We'll have the full story at 11:00.
Back to you, Johnny."

Best,

Scott

You likely already know some professors do well selling their own texts. Some if asked nicely have options that meet requirements at less cost.

My Friend,
I like how you think!
:occasion14:

I already have a favorable status within the Psychology Department Professors.
Perhaps a "Schmooze" towards the Sociology department "personnel" is possible.....
I shall inquire....

Most times, the previous edition is the one they last taught from......
---------

I have went through previous textbooks, that I have kept and not resold, maybe 9,
and have made up a flyer for a sale....

When I return to the campus,
I will get approval from the appropriate source and make sure that a flyer
is posted on every hallway bulletin board in every building.

Hopefully this will ease my finances.

As my Mom used to say,
"Those who help others need never ask for help."

Best,

Scott

Some may ask, "How is it that you are going to College in your 50's, Scott?"

Short answer is that I pissed away half my life blindly working with no real goals or purpose.

Then,
I was faced with my 50th Birthday.

Half of a Century I've been here and nobody cares 'cause I've been a nobody.
I'm either going skydiving or back to College.

Friends,

I've done both and College seemed more of a challenge.

So I enrolled for one class, as a "lark," 5 years ago.
An upper level English class.
Paid tuition and books from my own pocket,
And got a "B!"

Oh, Yeah....

It's on!

I soon found out that I was available for Pell Grants and with the rise of my GPA,
after hard work for a few semesters,
I could soon count on 2 Scholarships per semester.

Soon, my GPA rose to be nominated for National Honors,
and,
Well, here I am today.
With a Goal AND a Purpose!

And when I get my Degree, I will have

NO
Student debt! :headbang:

Poised upon a Degree, seeking to help others and willing to give without measure,
to my Vet Brothers and Sisters,
As I know they have given for me.

This story will continue.....

Best,

Scott

Just 'cause.

Why?

Well, Ummm...
Just 'cause good music is Good!

Enjoy!

I got some campfire coffee ready for us in 24 hours in my mountains.

Won't you come have a cup?

Always,

Scott

That's awesome no student debt buddy! And such a since of accomplishment too!!!! I didn't graduate with my BS until my mid 40's, I too worked very hard on my education. They can never take my birthday or my education from me!!! Maybe for you and there is a reason we didn't get a chance to attend college until later in life.

What we hope ever to do with ease, we must learn first to do with diligence. My thought for tonight.......

I'm sure that you are correct.
Life eventually slaps us one day and says, " Do something good for once."

It is called "An appreciation of life and all of the $hit that we've been through."

Although I've not seen a course taught in any college syllabus that comes close to this topic.....
However, this "life course" I have lived has surely helped me in my classes.....

Life is......

If I had the answer to life, well, Friends....
I'd tell you and we'd both be rich....

My Best,

Scott

Life Is A Highway Lyrics

Life's like a road that you travel on
When there's one day here and the next day gone
Sometimes you bend, sometimes you stand
Sometimes you turn your back to the wind
There's a world outside every darkened door
Where blues won't haunt you anymore
Where the brave are free and lovers soar
Come ride with me to the distant shore
We won't hesitate break down the garden gate
There's not much left today
Life is a highway
I want to ride it all night long
If you're going my way
I want to drive it all night long
Through all the cities and all these towns
It's in my blood and it's all around
I love you now like I loved you then
This is the road and these are the hands
From Mozambique to those Memphis nights
The Khyber Pass to Vancouver's lights
Knock me down get back up again
You're in my blood I'm not a lonely man
There's no load I can't hold
Road so rough this I know
I'll bee there when the light comes in
Tell 'em we're survivors
Life is a highway
I want to ride it all night long
If you're going my way
I want to drive it all night long
Life is a highway
I want to ride it all night long
If you're going my way
I want to drive it all night long
There was a distance between you and I
A misunderstanding once but now
We look it in the eye
There's no load, I can't hold
Road so rough this I know
I'll be there when the light comes in
Tell 'em we're survivors
Life is a highway
I want to ride it all night long
If you're going my way
I want to drive it all night long
Life is a highway
I want to ride it all night long
If you're going my way
I want to drive it all night long

Scott, I have not attended college either. I would love to very much, however living where I do as remote as it is makes it very difficult to do. I'm hoping later on after we complete the move to Florida I will have a chance to go. Not only will we be closer to schools, but I will be in a position to not have to work so many hours. You are an inspiration, and I must admit you are getting me fired up as well to go to college.

Well my son didn't get that job, but he has his own place. He has another interview for a much better job on or about the 13th. This job will be top notch. Makes me envious. I pray he gets it. I'll keep everyone posted

Scotty, perhaps my fav camping spot was on top of half dome in yosemite np.
no fence no nothing, we hung our legs over the edge and watched the valley get dark
Not gonna mention the odd lights at night!
