Crispin,

Here's the response from Johanne verbatum......"No throbbing...a little sore if she happens to flex the joint(by mistake)...no antibiotics....when pressing on nail, flesh directly above nail (about 1/4" gets white. when releasing pressure capillary refill occurs within 1 or 2 seconds.

Am I going to get my thumb chopped off!!!

Do I have to go to emergency now...URGG............"

Regards + HH

Bill,

It looks pretty good. I am a slight big concerned about the erythema (redness) at the top of the thumb. Make sure that she has good capillary refill from time to time. Capillary refill is the time it takes for the white to go away when one pushes on the nail and then lifts up. It should not take more then a couple seconds. Is she on antibiotics? Probably not, they are not routine. I would use a triple antibiotic ointment over the suture line overnight for a couple of days in a row. The suture line is tight and neat so no worries there.

Just watch the redness and the swelling. If it starts to throb, or swell, or losing capillary refill then it is getting infected and needs emergent care. However, from one picture I would say things are fine. Keep me updated.

No problem bro, I'd get up to give you a push any day of the week. My buddy Chuck would advise you against it though.

Thank you Mr. DJ, and to all you fine gentleman, and lady, I bid you good night, early day to beat the heat, and get back to the Lake. May we all win tomorrow's challenges and arrive back safely..........Gary
