Eva says...Dad just what did you do?..Crisp I can't believe you made that blanket, I think that great!!
I cannot sew crochet or knit..I would rather dig a hole or cut some wood.
I so respect your ability to make that! !

That is crochet. It is a lot easier to do then you think. Once you get the basic pattern down it is the same motion over and over. I can pretty much crochet in the dark at this point. I find it to be a great stress relief. I crochet at night when I have insomnia.

I don't think tons of digging sounds very good to me..lol!

If you buy a PI machine you are signing up for a ton of digging. Not only a lot of digging but deep digging. If that does not sound like fun then you may want to consider buying one of the higher end models that gives you a good idea of what you are about to dig.

Do you think the At would be a better choice?

I don't know much about the other models. There is a lot of discussion in the beach forum on it. From what I have pieced together you have two good options. One, get the sand shark and dig a lot. Two, spend about double the amount and get a higher end machine that can discriminate.

If you are hunting clean, heavily hunted beaches then you are better off with the sand shark as there will not be as many targets. However, if you are hunting not so popular beaches you can end up getting a target every two feet. The biggest advantage of the higher end machines is that they screen out iron. PIs will not do this. I've learned some ways to narrow down what to dig with my machine but it still leaves doubt as to what I am passing up on.

Crispin, what is your thoughts on the Minelab Excalibur II?

I'm loving the discrimination of Minelab in beach hunts. First trip out and dug very little junk targets. It's all in how much time you have to beach hunt, how clean the beach is of iron, and how strong you are to dig every target.

I assume you mean the excalibur. I am very torn on the two machines. How deep does an excalibur go?

Guys, quiet evening, and have had 12 hourr work day, and now have to wait 30 days to get paid.......ah, such is life in the fast lane. I'm bailing early tonight, some threads are bothering me, and I need some soul searching, and I;m afraid to respond as it would be to a mod, and I'm not sure how the outcome would be.....and not willing to piss anyone off.....Going fishing tomorrow, and since my wife is with her Dragon boat team racing this weekend, I don't have anyone to answer to for a while.......You guy's all have a good weekend and I'll report back tomorrow......Gary

Gary,

I learned the hard way during my working years.....sometimes it's better to sleep on it when someone gets you steamed up....to many times I'd loose my cool on the spot and regret the next day....especially when going up against those higher up the food chain....lol.

Regards + HH

Anybody else fear going to the dentist as much as I do? My brother-in-law is my dentist and I was able to dodge him for the last three years. Unfortunately, my wife needed to go and I had to watch the baby. I knew I wasn't going to get out of his office without an examination so I had him call me in some anxiety medicine. I took the first pill an hour before and the second 15minutes before. Right after taking the second pill I looked at the bottle and noticed that he had called in double the dose I had requested. Whooaaa Man! I certainly had the best appointment of my life...then when home and slept it off for the rest of the day. Rule number one: always check the bottle for yourself. I claim anxiety clouded my judgment, my wife just laughed at me.

Crispin, I know how you feel. I always have a pill to calm me down before any substantial procedures. I am still like this even after having many teeth out, cavities filled, surgery to remove a tumor and teeth laying against lower jaw bone (This one was not fun full IV and dentist removed several teeth that were extra below the gum line. Was told I would never have feeling again in lower jaw, but I still do.) Gum graft surgery, plating of front two teeth after burning back the gums with a laser into the roots ( attempted repair of resorption), cutting tongue free of lower gums with laser, and now I will be having one and possibly three implants done, as well as braces on top of it all. Even with all that (recently) I still get nervous. I needed all this work because of two bad injuries to my mouth and lack of dental care as a kid. At my cleanings the hygenist is always impressed with how clean my teeth are.

Nah, i don,t fear it. i just wonder why such an expensive route instead of dentures.
Day three waking up with out un earned hang over, one tooth had caused that symptom and others for months.
Thank you Doc.!

Just finished doing yard work myself. Now time to go to shoprite, BJs, etc. What a domestic day.

Crispin,

You of all people have what they call white coat syndrome....lol...

It's not the most pleasant experience but I try to grin and bear it....heck I've even gone detecting after extractions...my wife thinks I'm crazy....but I tell her heck my mouth still frozen so I don't feel a thing...

Speaking of medical procedures....last night after supper I started mowing the back lawn...my wife was snipping some grape vines along the fence....she calls me over and says quick open the side door....she's got blood all over her hand
as she managed to cut her finger with the pruning shears.....wrapped it up with kitchen towel and headed off to the hospital.....5 stitches and she's all taped up....just the way you want to spend your free time on a Saturday evening...lol.

Ouch! Hope your wife feels better. My finger ended up being cut at an angle. I have some steri-strips at home, I replaced the skin flap and let that be the suture. I'm not afraid of the dentist. I feel like I'm drowning when they are working on me.
