If this is how Dennis located the 50 #'s of gold, what chance is there of it being there? Also the news article says that Abraham Lincoln ordered this shipment of 50 #'s of gold. Surely not. 50 #'s of gold was only like $16,000. during the Civil War. Abraham Lincoln may order a million dollars or a million and one-half dollars in gold to help pay the troops, but 50 #'s? Come on. Fantasy.



I do not know why the screenshots do not work but anyway it is a post by Dennis about his best equipment for treasure hunting is dowsing.

Also, I believe that is the State FBI not the Federal FBI. I have never seen FBI Police on a a patch.

No on his webpages he only has a mother lode locator which are useless in these situations. He may have a gpr but it is most likely rented. Only a few months ago he said dowsing was his best treasure finding instrument. Tedyoh: The history of the American Civil War is very well documented from the Union side, and a remarkable amount remains from the Confederate side. If the US Army lost a "payroll" of this size, it would have been a very big deal. Government "cover up" is a poor substitute for the details that should be present if the yarn were factually correct.

I agree with you that when some TH'r or MD'r finds a goodie, then it makes the govt. archies "bristle" that the private sector is fiddling with the past, looting, pot-hunting, etc... And that, yes, then they dream laws going forward, blah blah.

However, in this case, rest assured, they're not going to find gold there. It's just a camp-fire ghost story.

But the damage that you speak of will be there WHETHER OR NOT they find anything. Because it's the PRESS that brings about the same results that you speak of (the mere hunt or digging, whether or not anything is actually found). So ... alas, yes this brings a black eye to us on two fronts A) TH'rs look like dorks using magic wands chasing legends and making stinks, and B) It sticks out in their memory, and they start booting md'rs in the future, that they would otherwise have not thought twice about.

Whether or not every last fart by a govt. official is "recorded", Old-book's statement is relevant. I'm sure someone could dream up scenarios of vast govt. conspiracies, that .... despite the copious records that old-book alludes to ... might STILL have gone un-recorded (hidden, hushed, records lost, or whatever). But at some point, you have to ask yourself: What are the odds ? Which is more plausible ??

These two contrasting statements are a testament to the inborn subconscious deep desire to believe in treasures (legends, stories, etc....). All of us, myself included, will tend to see only the affirming side of the equation. Because we want *so* hard to believe "lest you be left out". So we miss the parts where the story falls apart (that dowsing rods were used), and only see the GPR part of the story.

This is why , when going to look at these stories, to cast a critical skeptical eye. Only THEN do the chinks in the armor and more plausible explanations jump out at you.

Go to Finder's Keepers webpage Dennis Parada and you can see what he says about dowsing. Everyone saw them dowsing at the well in New Ross. Again nothing was found but they still claim it is there.

Trust me I'm skeptical as well but I gotta have some Faith on this one Brotha! Just because I've been so attached to it for the past 20 years!

Do we agree that whether or not I can say exactly what they are doing there ( if all of this is true to begin with), is irrelevant to the topic, right ? Because we can both agree that a congregating group of Leo's that you might happen to see in any City or landscape in the USA, does not necessarily mean "treasure". Leo's can gather in a locale for a myriad of reasons. And even if they are on this site because of Dennis's stink, that still would not prove that something is necessarily there. but only prove someone was making a stink.

Very well said....but they are collecting something, boxing it and moving it off the mountain....so they are there for something more important than illegal digging I would think? Especially with that scary " FBI Police " escort. (That girl is kinda hot)

The letter is dated 2005, the youtube video dated 2012. I'm guessing the video that Jeff posted was not taken in Dents Run. The image is a snap shot of the video before going underground, I think I see homes or structures and relatively flat ground.

Doesn't make sense why some other agencies would be left out if this were a quest for Civil War era gold. I would think at least one historian and one or two archaeologists would be present. The presence of Finders Keepers would hardly suffice in either of those roles. Generally, the FBI investigates Federal crimes but perhaps the agency's role is far more over reaching that I thought.
